Movie Review – Confession of Murder

Sponsored Movie Review by OMY.sg

Courtesy of OMY.sg, I was invited to catch the sneak preview of this awesome Korean movie – Confession of Murder which would be released tomorrow 14th March.

For those who are eager to know if it’s value for money, with all honesty based on my personal opinion..

IT IS A MOVIE TO DIE FOR!

So my verdict is yes, a MUST-WATCH movie!!!

But I need to first confess that I am not certain if these Korea actors are like A-list celebrities because I am not a KPOP/Korean fan. I have zero knowledge of the K-industry.

But nevertheless, bf and I enjoyed the movie very much! 🙂

Synopsis:

15 years ago, an infamous serial killing case that left 10 women dead shook the nation. Now its statute of limitations is about to expire, and a member of the victim family throws himself off a building in front of the detective Choi who is the primary detective on the case.

2 years later, a man named Lee Du-seok publishes a book titled “Confession of Murder”, claiming his responsibility for the murders that took place 17 years ago. His book becomes a huge success, making him an instant celebrity thanks to his beautiful façade and innately danger that’s associated with his presence. Choi can only watch from the sidelines as his hands are tied, because Lee has been pardoned legally.

The law forgave him, but even after the expiration of statute of limitations, the case is not yet over!

So, I’m quite sure 99.9999% of you would ask, what is meant by the ‘statute of limitations’?

1% being law students/law grads/lawyers like me. 😛

Statute of limitations :

A statute prescribing a period of limitation for the bringing of certain kinds of legal action.

It is a defense that is ordinarily asserted by the defendant to defeat an action brought against him after the appropriate time has elapsed. Therefore, the defendant must plead the defense before the court upon answering the plaintiff’s complaint. If the defendant does not do so, he is regarded as having waived the defense and will not be permitted to use it in any subsequent proceedings.

The purpose of statute of limitations is to prevent fraudulent and stale claims from arising after all evidence has been lost or after the facts have become obscure through the passage of time or the defective memory, death, or disappearance of witnesses.

So, back to the more ‘interesting’ part, if you’re a fan of surprises, twist and thrillers, this movie is a must-watch for you!

Do take note that this movie is NC-16, although personally I do think that the bars should be raised because there are loads of vulgarities used (actually it’s just the numerous times with the same word ‘fuck’) and the graphics are quite gruesome and gory.

So this is not suitable for the saint-like weak-hearted people, alright?

I had 2 young girls squirming and gasping throughout the whole movie and not forgetting chatting quite noisily as well. Also, whispering is not a whisper per se if you do so LOUDLY. You might as well TALK it out ya?

Oh yes, there are some touching scenarios as well and sobbing sound were heard too… I didn’t tear nor cry la because I’m just not that kind of person. Or least I don’t make myself look one.

One of the bottom-line of this movie is never neglect your loved ones and cherish them before it’s too late. Taking them for granted might cause much misery when an unfortunate event happens.

This movie lasted for 2 hours, so do visit the toilet or grab a bite before you catch the show.

I guess the synopsis is sufficient for those curious cats but because I don’t wish to be a spoiler, I’ll leave you to catch the movie and rate it yourself.

But trust me, it’s definitely worth the catch 🙂
