Dinner date at Doggiestyle Cafe with 2 loves of my life!

Finally….The bf and I have been wanting to head down to Doggiestyle Cafe like for the longest time! Although the cafe is located just a stone throw away from my house, we have been bad bad bad parents to Jingles because we procrastinated 😦

Anyhoo, we finally dined there a few weeks ago!

The food was quite acceptable taking into consideration of their affordable prices.  However, the bf thought that the truffle fries were not worth it for its price….

When we arrived at about 8+, there weren’t many customers. Those who were there whom I believed are friends of the owner left earlier than us and we were the last customers to leave.

They had 2 french bulldogs (hope I got this right) there who were friendly.

Photo 3-5-14 8 52 21 pm

And they have 2 cute bunnies too, although I think that white ones are cuter…more innocent with the doe-eyed look…

Photo 3-5-14 8 52 33 pm

It’s great to bring along your dogs for such ‘socialising’ activities because Jingles stay home most of the times and does not get to interact often with other dogs. Consequentially, she becomes quite a shy and timid dog, and she would always come back to me and look at me with those puppy eyes, as if to ask for help. Haha!

Here’s Jingles’ food!

Photo 3-5-14 9 33 29 pm

Photo 3-5-14 9 33 45 pm

Photo 3-5-14 9 11 51 pm

It was served piping hot and I had to smash the chicken pie up and let it cool down first before serving it to Jingles 🙂

Surprisingly, she did manage to eat a little. I recalled the last time we brought her to another dog cafe, she wasn’t even one bit interested in the food. Could be the cause of staying home too frequent….? 😦

Then she decided to stop inspecting the place and rested beside me. I was skeptical and afraid to unleash her because of the fear or what she and the other dogs might do. But my baby girl behaved rather well, except for sniffing strangers and got a little defensive and barked at the owner when he approached her. I guess she’s as wary as her mummy! 😛

Photo 3-5-14 9 43 41 pm

I was a happy mama when I saw she took interest in the pie but was left disappointed in the end because she didn’t finish it. There was still lots left and the 2 french bulldogs have been eyeing on the leftovers for some time but didn’t dare to get close to the dish bowl. The bf and I thought that since Jingles couldn’t finish it, it would be good if other dogs could help to finish to prevent wastage. And we pushed the dish bowl towards them, who approached it cautiously…Their owners did not know after awhile though and scolded them for eating Jingles’ food…HAHA!

Photo 3-5-14 9 32 09 pm

Afterall, I thought that we quite enjoyed ourselves at Doggiestyle Cafe, in terms of the food, pricing and overall ambience. Oh and the owner was quite friendly too! 🙂

5 stars

Okay, technically ‘buy’ is incorrect but would I be back? YES! Would I recommend to others? YES too! 🙂

[Beauty Review] Love Alpha Fibre Mascara

I have been wearing falsies/fake eyelashes for quite some time now, approx for 6 years? Haha! And I’ve been wanting to stop wearing them for a more natural look but because my natural eyelashes are extremely short, I have been trying to grow them out wish eyelash serum and tonic. Results can  be said to be effective but nothing fantastic. More on that later.

While I was “window-shopping” on Qoo10, I chanced upon this highly raved mascara – Love Alpha Fibre MascaraJust so you know that this isn’t a paid advertorial or sponsorship. I paid $11.90 +$1.50 normal postage fee for it which amounts to $13.40.

A few bucks more expensive than its promo price.

Photo 15-5-14 7 09 34 pm

The packaging is indeed pretty and although there are other mascaras which comes in such packaging, this is my first time seeing this!

This is how it looks when applied :

Now, for the reviews…

Pros :

  1. It really does lengthen and volumise your lashes
  2. Easy to apply with minimal steps
  3. Pretty packaging

Cons :

  1. I really loathe how it clumps, clumps and keeps on clumping! I’ve tried twice and 4 times altogether (because you have a pair of eyes?) but it still clumps….
  2. The correct method is to apply the fiber at mid-length and ends of the lashes but…it still clumps!
  3. 2-way method is definitely more troublesome than those mascaras which already have fibre in them – am now trying another mascara from Loreal, will blog about it soon 🙂
  4. Seller claims its authentic but I can guarantee and her attitude and customer service is not fantastic as reflected in the reviews
  5. Takes a longer time to apply compared to other mascara – definitely not for those rushing in the morning to work

Will I recommend this product?

The answer is NO.

It may be cheap but I can’t guarantee the authenticity despite the authenticity sticker and clumping mascara is definitely a BIG NO-NO! I don’t know if the problem lies with me or what but some others didn’t face this problem, and perhaps practice does make perfect…?

We were served with generous portions and varieties that most of us had a full bulging stomachs at the end of the evening!

The food were delicious and there is no qualms about their delectable quality. I love how the beef were so easy to chew as well as succulent and juicy!

The 3 different versions of crabs totally blew us away with its mouthwatering sauces and tastes! We really enjoyed ourselves with the palatable food that evening! Plus, the customer service of their staff was commendable as well!

It’s no doubt that Ah Hoi’s Kitchen is an undisputed winner of Wine & Dine Singapore’s “Top Restaurant” Award,

Thumbs up! 🙂

Bumped into a fellow beauty blogger, Regina as well 🙂

And no prize for guessing who I brought as my +1 that night! 😛

On a side note, I must apologise for the crappy quality of the pictures, which were taken with my iPhone5’s camera. I’ve been abandoning my Canon G1x (more for taking scenic views) and looking to get another camera………any recommendations?

[Beauty Review] b.liv Absolute Matte Mask

I don’t know about you, but I notice that when that time of the month is nearing, my skin gets oilier than usual. Blame it on the hormones man!

I don’t have oily skin type and I belong to the combination skin type, so frequent touching up of makeup at the T-zone areas is required, especially so during this period.

I was fortunate enough to be sent b.liv Absolute Matte Mask which many raved about and was able to experience the aftermath effects myself!

Photo 20-5-14 9 52 28 pm

b.liv has also kindly sent me their TOP selling product – Off with those black heads serum to try which I will blog about it another day 🙂

Photo 20-5-14 11 48 18 pm

Pros :

  1. The mask sheet is thick and not flimsy, hence does not tear easily
  2. Sebum production reduced
  3. Lesser need to touch-up my T-zone areas which means lesser clogged pores!
  4. Skin feels matte after removal and still matte after applying my Sulwhasoo Timetreasure Serum and Emulsion

Cons :

  1. Varies individually but those with oily eyelids may prefer for the eyelids flap as well

On the whole, this mask would benefit those with oily skin type as well as combination skin type. Comes in handy especially during the period nearing that time of the month.

Updates on my life

Hello everyone!

I know I’ve been MIA-ing for awhile only because of some recent changes and events that took place in my life recently.

My new job

I left my previous company which I had worked for 2.5 years and took up a very challenging role in a new company. It’s challenging because I will be the ONLY legal personnel there and this comes with pros and cons of course. One of the pros is that most of the times, subject to CFO/CEO’s approval, I have the final say to most legal issues and the cons, it’s a heavy responsibility to shoulder.

Apart from that, the scope of my work increased tremendously as I am now required to oversee all my company’s subsidiaries locally as well as overseas. Furthermore, I was also tasked to look into analysing the business of the company besides my legal role.

So you can tell how busy I am and will be even more in the near future. I hope I’ll be able to manage my time well so as not to neglect this little humble blog of mine.

Although ranting about the workload almost on a daily basis, here’s a little secret about me.

I’m actually a workaholic because I simply love the sense of achievement and satisfaction after I’m done with my work! It’s like clearing  a check-list and I LOVEEEEEEEEE that feeling!

I know, I think I’m psycho too sometimes.

Exams

I’m finally done with my education…I mean my further education that is.

I’ve completed all 16 papers for my Masters course, although technically completed since results are not all out yet. Sat for my last 4 papers last week and unfortunately, some were terrible. It’s about a 50-50 chance? Hopefully, everything would go through smoothly and I’ll be able to graduate officially then. Am also contemplating about heading over to London to attend the Graduation Convocation next year sometime in March but not sure if I’ll be able to take such a longggg leave from work. 😦

***

Guess these were the 2 main things that got me quite overwhelmed recently and thought it would be good to just fill you guys in.

I have a few articles to write, few beauty and food reviews to blog as well as my beauty giveaway which I have procrastinating for the longest time!

I am also considering and looking into creating vlogs, especially for makeup tutorials since it’s more feasible than snapping pictures….but I’m kinda shy….wahaha!

Heh, so stay tuned and watch this space okay?

In any case, I’ll be updating more on my Facebook page, so do ‘like’ and follow my page ok? 🙂

And before you guys forget how I look and before I bid goodbye…..

Create your own career opportunities. It’s possible with PSB Academy.

This has gotta be one of the more personal posts that I am gonna blog today and it relates to my schooling days when I was younger…

Despite working as a Legal Counsel now, I didn’t do that well back in secondary school and JC.

The worst was when I was in Sec 3 where I had almost retained, i.e. repeated the whole academic year.

YES, RETAINED. REPEATED.

20140502-130831.jpg

I was cool before cool was cool

That obviously pretty much upset my parents but these bad results were also a wake-up call for me and thankfully, did knock some sense into me.

Consequently, I started to put in more effort and time into my studies, worked hard and graduated as the top few of my batch for O levels and managed to make it to JC.

Class photo during my 1st year in JC

Class photo during my 1st year in JC

Class photo during my 1st year in JC

Class photo during my 1st year in JC

Class photo during my 1st year in JC

Can you spot me??

But A levels was not an easy feat and I struggled too, especially with Chemistry, thinking it would be such a breeze since I aced it during my O levels. But hell no!

My A level results were neither here nor there but I managed to snag a place in Nanyang Technological University (NTU) for English Literature, but turned it down due to the limited job prospects upon graduation. I was told that Lit grads could try for jobs relating to communications such as journalists, reports, writers etc or either that be a teacher. None of them are my cup of tea.

I was stuck and was at crossroads as I had nowhere to go, leaving me with no choice but to relook into other alternatives.

After which, I was encouraged by my dad to pursue Law and today, as you may have already known, I’m working as a Legal Counsel, graduating with my Master of Laws (LLM) soon.

20140502-130855.jpg

Graduation picture for the conferment of my Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree

Graduation picture for the conferment of my Bachelor of Laws (Hons) degree

Honestly speaking, I was really upset when I couldn’t make it to top JCs and was even more devastated when I didn’t make it to local universities.

It may be still one of my greatest regrets in my life that I wasn’t part of the cream of the crop in academic-wise, scoring straight As, topping my cohort, offered scholarships or making into the Dean’s list.

But look at where I am today.

Not that I am a millionaire or a high-flyer now but I can safely say that comparing myself to my peers who graduated from local unis, the job prospects and salary (of course) that I am drawing is definitely way better.

A law degree was the stepping stone of my career which helped to open many doors and with the mentality of upgrading myself, I took the initiative to further my studies.

You know how Singapore’s culture is like and the inevitable rat race which we are constantly challenging ourselves to complete it successfully.

So what I am saying is that, all is not lost if you do not make it to local universities.

Yeah, I’m sure it definitely looks better in paper but ultimately, isn’t the figures you see in your bank accounts every month top your priority list?

A paper qualification is just a stepping stone and ultimately, you will need to rely on your other skills to survive in the workforce such as efficiency, time management, team work player, how fast a learner you are, interpersonal skills etc if you intend to scale the corporate ladder.

Today’s employers are increasingly on the lookout for an innovative and creative workforce, they will be seeking people who can research, develop, analyse and communicate ideas in a world of technological, economic, political and social change. Thus, you will be ideally placed to take up this challenge with the ability to reason and communicate.

PSB Academy’s Undergraduate Programme: Bachelor of Arts (Communication Studies) (Part-time) offers you just that.

This programme by The University of Western Australia :

✓ The only Western Australian university to belong to the Group of Eight Australia

✓ A World Top 100 University
