[Beauty Tools Part 3] My Everyday Look – Make Up and Panasonic Multi-Styling Straightener EH-HW58-K

Hi girls!

Today I will be sharing with you a comprehensive step-by-step for my ‘everyday look’ which involves minimal make-up as well as styling my hair using the Panasonic Multi-Styling Straightener EH-HW58-K.

Photo 30-7-14 4 44 19 pm

Don’t we all look like this when we wake up first thing in the morning?

Dull oily skin with messy hair?

Let me show you how to achieve a presentable look, with nothing too much or little and yet still look gorgeous in a short period of time! 🙂

These are the make-up stuffs which I used.

Photo 30-7-14 5 34 05 pm

This includes of the following :-

1. Chanel Foundation Compact Powder Vitalumiere Eclat

2. Silkygirl Shimmer Duo Blusher

3. Etude House Face Highlight

4. Canmake Highlighter

5. Missha Under-eye Concealer

6. Makeon Brown Shimmer Eyeliner

5. Shimmer White Eyeliner

6. Bourjois Ultra Black Liquid Eyeliner

7. Bourjois Brown Eyebrown Pencil

8. theBalm Bronzer

9. 2 Brushes – 1 for contouring and 1 for applying blusher

First after bathing and cleansing your face thoroughly after a night’s sleep, ensure your hands are clean before wearing your contacts.

Photo 30-7-14 4 52 08 pm

I opt for a more natural looking design with enlarging the pupil effect.

Starting out with my bare face with just my contact lens on.

Photo 30-7-14 4 53 36 pm

Applying sunblock before makeup is a MUST and I’m currently using Biore UV Bright Face Milk [Pink] Sunblock with an SPF of 50++.

sunblock

Then I start applying the Chanel Compact Powder. Remember to apply it downwards as you do not want to clog your pores. Only apply upwards for substances that contains nutrients such as moisturiser and essence.

Photo 30-7-14 4 56 55 pm

Next, line your eye thinly.

Photo 30-7-14 4 59 36 pm

Photo 30-7-14 5 00 07 pm

Then draw your eyebrows.

Photo 30-7-14 5 05 04 pm

Photo 30-7-14 5 05 58 pm

Hehe, I know my eyebrows need some trimming…and recently I have hopped onto the ulzzang look for eyebrows!

And then conceal your dark circles and blemishes.

Photo 30-7-14 5 07 45 pm

Use a brown eyeliner to line your below your eyes and join them to the upper eyeliner on the sides.

And then stick on fake eyelashes.

Now this is optional, you may opt for a more simple look without putting on fake eyelashes or may prefer applying mascara for a more natural look, which I have blogged about in my previous blog post.

Photo 30-7-14 5 21 43 pm

Contour your nose if you prefer.

Photo 30-7-14 5 22 22 pm

Blend it well and apply highlighter on your forehead, nose bridge, undereyes, chin as well as on your laugh lines.

Photo 30-7-14 5 24 08 pm

Draw the inner eye corners with the shimmery white eyeliner for the innocent doe-eyed look as well as ‘open’ up your eyes, resulting in livelier eyes!

Photo 30-7-14 5 26 09 pm

Apply blusher.

Photo 30-7-14 5 27 12 pm

You may apply outwards and upwards for a slimmer looking face or apply it at the bottom of your cheekbones.

For the hair, I straightened my hair using the Panasonic Multi-Styling Straightener EH-HW58-K which generously offers a 6-in-1 styling hair designs.

Using the same method in my video tutorial and steps mentioned in my previous blog post using the Nano Straightener, slide it down straight instead of curling. This should be much easier than curling.

And…TADAH!

The final look :

What does it mean to be a beauty blogger?

Anyone can be a blogger these days but being a ‘power blogger? That is a totally different issue. Being a beauty blogger is one who shares beauty tips and reviews with the readers, who are substantially females. However, that is not to say that men aren’t welcomed either since there is now a growing trend and demand by men on beauty and aesthetic services. This is understandable because everyone wants to look their best! 🙂

To be honest, I was on the verge of giving up on this ‘Best Beauty Blog’ contest because I had ZERO knowledge and experience in creating videos and editing them, as well as ZERO hands-on experience using the hair stylers. I was actually one of the few who was struggling using the styler, even during the Beauty Workshop with Panasonic Singapore. Also, you could see that I still struggled my way through in my video tutorial on using the Panasonic EH-HS95-K Nanocare Straightener. However, I did not edit those ‘NG’ (‘Not Good’) parts because I believe in putting an honest front and moreover, I am not a professional make-up or hair stylist and started off knowing zilch to creating the full works!

I pressed on not only because I love challenges but also because of the encouragements given by my family and friends. For that, I deeply appreciate it. 🙂

Because of this contest, I have learnt so much within such a short period of time.

This includes creating videos which I have been wanting to do for the longest time and now, I can start creating more vlogs! Vlogs are more useful for beauty bloggers in a way because processes of using beauty tools can be more accurately and clearly portrayed compared to using only pictures, which can be a hassle to snap at every stage. My ‘Everyday Makeup Look’ had only pictures instead of videos because I am down with a sore throat and cough. Even during the video tutorial on ‘How to put on fake eyelashes fast’, I was sick and had to suppress my cough which occurs every 10 mins or so. It was tough, I must admit. Till now, I am still suffering from a bad sore throat and cough 😦

Apart from these skills, I had also learnt and understood better issues such as the importance of networking, those who would conscientiously root and vote for you and those who aren’t that willing to do so, and also how to use the hair beauty tools which I made the effort to watch countless of videos.

I am thankful for this opportunity for being one of the finalists for ‘Best Beauty Blog’ and special thanks go out to Panasonic Singapore and OMY.sg in organising this Singapore Blog Awards. Of course, not forgetting to my voters and Facebook fans as well. ❤ 😀

If you love reading my blog and my beauty tips and reviews, do vote for me! :)

Beauty Review : Home-based Facial Salon at Lovely Face Spa (Tampines)

To be honest, I don’t go for facials. The only time I’ve went for one was kindly sponsored by Navara Beauty. I don’t even mask at home anymore, heck!

Recently, one of my gf introduced me to Lovely Face Spa at Tampines which she mentioned was highly raved by many girls online.

My concerns for my face are :-

1. Oily T-zone (I have combi skin)

2. Clogged pores, especially on my nose, black and white heads. Very annoying.

3. My incurable and hopeless dark circles

4. Freckles, which I have had since I was a kid?

5. Visible large pores on my nose and cheek areas

Complimented by many, my skin condition is actually very good since I don’t do much maintenance. Even the lady boss, Tiffany, of LFS said so 🙂 So yes, I am indeed very blessed but of course, I don’t have flawless perfect fair and porcelain-like skin.

I opted for the ‘Essential Glow Facial’ as well as the ‘Eye Treatment’. I was told that if I were to do Acid peels, eye treatment would be impossible.

Acid peel would help to target my freckles and uneven skin tone mainly.

I was more concerned with the stupid clogged pores and dark circles, hence the choice.

Extracted from LFS’s website :

Essential Glow Facial (120 mins) @ $68

A deep-cleansing, moisturizing and tension-relieving facial that hydrates skin, leaving it youthful and supple.

A Pampering and Relaxing Facial which includes
– Double Cleansing, Skin Analysis, Pre-Treatment Lotion and Steaming

– Exfoliation

– Extraction and High Frequency Machine (anti-bacterial),

– Cold Hammer with Ampoule from France, customised to your skin type

– Eye-brow trimming

– Lifting/Firming Eye Massage to combat puffiness and dark circles
– Moisturising and Lifting Eye Mask

Plus
– Lymphatic Suction Machine to improve lymphatic drainage, eliminate toxins and increase cell metabolism.

This helps to reduce skin imperfection as this machine helps in better facilitation of waste products (sweat and toxin) removal via lymphatic drainage system.
– Customised Soft Mask prescribed by certified Aesthetician for your skin conditions

– Signature Face Lifting Massage to firm up and tone your skin, improve skin’s elasticity, and improves skin texture while maintaining moisture content in skin cells

– Enjoy a relaxing Head plus Shoulder Massage to soothe your tired nerves

– Lastly, a Hot Towel to melt away your tension

Radio Frequency Eye Treatment (30 mins) – $38

-Combats puffiness & dark eye rings
-Hydrates the eye area
– Improves circulation around the eye area

*Able to combine with facial except acid treatment

If you choose to do both the Essential Glow Facial with Eye treatment, the latter would cost $28 instead of $38.

I paid a total of $96.

Here is how the mini salon looks like.

I must say the ambience is quite okay. Bright orange colours for the cheery burst of energy mood.

photo 2 (5)

The bed for customers to rest and lay.

photo 3 (6)

Radio that replays soothing classics as with any other facial spa salons.

photo 4 (5)

Some equipment.

photo 5 (3)

And another.

photo 1 (5)

The area behind the bed.

So you can see, the area is not that big but still ample. It’s the size of a normal HDB room.

Tiffany previously worked at beauty salons so she has had ample experience. Her skills and techniques are quite okay.

Her customer service is good too.

I received a follow-up sms from her few days later after the facial.

The problem with me going to facial is that, I have a hard time judging if it’s effective on my skin. Because mainly, I don’t have much problems with it compared to someone who has acne problems which did/didn’t reduce after going for facial.

The extraction was not as painful as I’d thought it would be and what my friend mentioned. Guess it’s also because I didn’t have much to extract but there were some painful ones at the sides of the nose and near my brows.

Pores seemed clean after extraction but I could still see some clogged ones.

Visible large pores remain…visible and large.

What I like about her facial package is that she helps you to trim your brows, which I suck at. Because I shave rather than pluck, there were many ingrowns which sometimes cause inflammations and acne. Tiffany had painstakingly tried to pluck out all the ingrowns which I’m quite satisfied about 🙂

There were moments which made me felt uncomfortable, for example when the electrolysis-like machine was used. You would feel that your skin is getting electrocuted. I can’t remember what is that machine called and for though, because there were so many stuffs used…

The package also includes head and shoulder massages which I need so badly….And the massage session lasted longer than I’d expected. That goes to show that Tiffany doesn’t cut ‘costs’ which I like very much. 🙂

My dark circles still remained nevertheless and I fully understand that the solution to skin problems is not a miraculously one-off incident. You will need to constantly maintain and review.

But I also know that clogged pores and dark circles will always recur. Clogged pores arise due to dirt, impurities and of course our humid climate in Singapore while dark circles, well, lack of rest, straining of eyes and using of gadgets…

I feel that these problems will never efface 😦

So is this facial worth it for me?

I would say I don’t think I will be going back, since I don’t have much of a problem (which can be solved) for my skin.

I wouldn’t say that Tiffany’s skills and equipment aren’t good but just that, I wouldn’t want to spend so much on facials in general.

She is still very highly raved by many others though 🙂

Beauty Review – Hada Labo Whitening Lotion New Nano Formula

Hada Labo was very kind to sponsor me their new product – Hada Labo Arbutin Whitening Lotion with Nano Formula and I received it 2 days after receiving their email! Very efficient and prompt service :)

Of course, I’ve heard so many raves on Hada Labo’s products and because I couldn’t contain my excitement further, I tried it on asap on the same day of receipt! :)

Photo 29-05-2013 05 52 55 PM (1) Photo 29-05-2013 05 53 03 PM (1)

Pros

  1. I love how it feels so light on my skin!
  2. Definitely non-sticky
  3. Bottle is made of plastic, so less accident-prone.
  4. Free of fragrances (bad thing? but might be good in the sense that lesser chemicals are added), mineral oil, alcohol and colourant

Cons

  1. Personally prefer to apply using cotton pads than hands/fingers (just a personal preference!)

Other than that, this Hada Labo Whitening Lotion with Nano Formula is great!

What you didn’t know about Botox at Aesthetics Hub

Did you know…

that Botox can Treat Acne Breakouts, Eliminate Large Pores, Reduce Sebum Production?

A plastic surgeon in Chicago injects directly into the skin to eliminate large pores, oil production and acne breakouts. He said that Botox prevents the production of the sebum, which in turn starves the bacteria that causes pimples.

Did you know…

Botox May Prove to Be Surprising Ally Against Depression

Botox is a wrinkle reducer. A study confirms that facial muscles do not simply broadcast people’s emotions, but are important for identifying and experiencing emotions which, in turn, interrupts the development and maintenance of negative emotions.

Did you know…
Sweaty Women Use Botox To Smell Good

The bad odour that accompanies sweating also puts a question mark on personal hygiene. Botox selectively blocks the activation of sweat glands and hence no sweat is released.

Did you know…

you can make your Botox Lasts Longer by Taking Zytase before the Injections?

A Houston doctor said that since Botox is zinc dependent – they need zinc to work, he wondered what would happen if he “gave people zinc before their Botox injections. So, he combined a high dose of zinc with a phytase enzyme and Zytase was born. The drug is taken four days before and on the day of the Botox injection. The Botox’s effects last longer – meaning fewer shots and less money spent!

Did you know…

you can inject Botox in your Feet so you can wear super high heels without feeling the pain?

A self-confessed shoeaholic has paid more than £300 to have a “Loub job” — fillers and Botox injected into her feet — so she can wear her favourite designer Louboutin stilettos without feeling any pain.

Do you know…

how I know this?

Beauty Review – Limited Edition My Beauty Diary Orange Blossom & White Lotus Moisturising Mist

I have a HOLY GRAIL beauty product to share!!! And yes, am extremely excited about this! I blogged briefly on this before previously but this product deserves a solo blog post! 🙂

Are you looking to achieve dewy radiant skin? Thinking of ways to brighten up your dull-looking skin?

Does your make-up coverage disappoint? Do you then have to constantly touch-up on your make-up, especially your foundation?

I have found a product which helps eliminate these worries and achieve your beautiful flawless skin!

Mentioned previously where I’d got hold of this HG before, from an online beauty shop – Sunnanz 🙂

It was a prize won via their Instagram contest 🙂

So yes, am not advertising for them, neither was it a sponsorship. It was a prize and a really worthy one. Worthy enough to be featured and raved about on my blog! 🙂

Directions to use :

Spray 2 to 3 pumps/spitz about 20-30cm away from your face directly.

Use it on a cleansed face and before applying make up. I still have no courage to spray on after applying make-up for the fear of clogging and cake-ing my foundation. But applying it before really helps alot!

My steps :

1. Cleanse face

2. Apply toner (you can skip if you want to – for now I am experimenting whether applying toner is beneficial for my own skin, although I did write up a blog post previously which affirmed otherwise. I will revert back to my toner regime if my skin condition worsens).

3. Apply essence/serum (you may skip this if you have oily skin) – wait for it to dry and absorb

4. Spray on the facial mist (2 to 3 times) – wait for it to dry and absorb

5. Apply moisturiser – wait for it to dry and absorb

6. Apply your make-up

With this facial mist inculcated into my skin care regime and before my make-up application, I find lesser need to touch up on my make-up throughout the day. In addition, my face looks dewy and radiant, with the matt look. I really love it because my T-zone doesn’t produce that much sebum/oil anymore.

Do you know why pores produce sebum/oil on its own? One of the main reasons is because of the lack of moisture and hence, the skin has to regulate the moisture content by producing natural oil.

So, if you use proper skincare for your skin type as well as moisturise/hydrate yourself adequately, you will tend to see less oil being produced.

I’m quite sure you can spray on after your make-up application, just to constantly moisturise and brighten your skin.

PLUS IT SMELLS REALLY FRAGRANT TOO!!! 😀

Think the product is sold at Sasa too 🙂

Sunnanz doesn’t sell them because it’s a limited edition product, so I guess I was lucky! Will drop by Sasa one of these days to check it out! 🙂

*Remember to always let whatever you applied on your face to set, dry and be absorbed first before applying your make-up, to prevent any caking. Don’t rush into it or you might have to remove your make-up and redo from the start again.

ENJOY YOUR LOVELY NEW SKIN! 😀 ❤

***

Psst, I am also trying out Skin&Lab’s Vita Energy Toner & Mist. I am using it as a mist first as mentioned that I am skipping the toner step for experiment purposes for the time being.

Will review shortly, so stay tuned! 🙂

Understanding your skin and the annoying acnes…

As it is, to solve a problem, you must first understand its origin and meaning. This goes the same for your skin as well.

Face mapping is a common theory which provides comprehensive explanations of the locations of the growth of acnes.

Are you listening to your skin?

Are you actually solving or aggravating the situation?

Taken from www.glamour.com :

Alex Gariano over at U Look Haute shared a fascinating look at “face mapping”–the art of unlocking the mysteries of problematic skin. Hailing from ancient Chinese medicine, Gariano writes, “face mapping is a type of skin analysis that explains why and how certain areas of your face are connected to other parts of your body. …Think of your blemishes as X’s on a map that is your face. Different zones correspond to different problems. With this ‘map’ as your guide, you can address the underlying causes of blemishes and correctly determine how to prevent them from recurring.”

So, what are your breakouts, dull spots and dark circles trying to tell you? Here’s a quick guide from Gariano:

Zone 1 & 3: Bladder & Digestive System — Improve your diet and drink more water.

Zone 2: Liver — Try cutting back on alcohol, heavy food or dairy. This area can also indicate a food allergy.

Zone 4 & 10: Kidneys — Make sure you’re keeping yourself hydrated with water and cut back on liquids that dehydrate you. This means nix the soda, coffee and/or alcohol.

Zone 5 & 9: Respiratory system — Those who smoke or have allergies tend to have acne here.

Zone 6 & 8: Kidneys — Dark circles are usually a result of dehydration. Drink up!

Zone 7: Heart — Check your blood pressure and make sure you’re not using makeup that irritates your skin.

Zone 12: Stomach — Consider a detox or adding more fiber to your diet to help with digestion.

Zone 11 & 13: Hormones — Stress and hormonal changes can sometimes be alleviated with more water and a few extra servings of dark, leafy greens but if breakouts in this area persistent, make an appointment with your doctor to look into a possible hormonal imbalance. Additionally, breakouts in this area also indicate when you are ovulating (and which side).

Zone 14: Illness — Can be a sign of your body fighting bacteria to avoid illness. Take a breather and drink plenty of fluids.

But if you are a tad more keen, this skin analysis and several solutions would come in handy and interesting for you :

Personally, I do get pimples/acnes every now and then. I belong to the combination skin type so my T-zones are usually oilier than the rest. But sometimes, my nose peels too. Not sure why though. Nevertheless, I have to be extra cautious with products I use, especially on my T-zone areas because oily skin causes clogged pores which results in pimples/acnes. Certainly not in the good books of girls.

The pores on my nose is almost perpetually clogged. Ask 10 ladies, and 9 of them would agree as well. These black/white heads are extremely annoying as foundations might not be able to conceal as well. But if you have the perfect solution to clearing and minimising your pores, you should. Piling on make-up over your clogged pores would do more harm than good. Squeezing is not advised either although I am guilty of this, because it actually enlarges your pores even more. I have yet to source fo the perfect product in minimising my pores and removing the heads.

Even when they are almost removed, THEY STILL COME BACK. OH GOD. I was discussing this with another friend and she did say that they always come back…

With the age increasing, open large pores could also be one of the result, so extra care needs to be taken for your skin.

And as I was saying, with my combination skin type, I usually find pimples popping on my forehead between my brows, nose and chin ( T-zone areas).

Analysing the solutions provided above, the more common ones are :

  • Exercise regularly (oops I am guilty of this!)
  • Have more rest (Guilty too..!)
  • Avoid eating before bed/late night snacks (Although I am weight-conscious, I still eat whenever I want and feel like it!)

But I’ve to also agree that I lack in fruits and veggies, gotta restrict my alcohol intake and watch my stress level (usually self-induced).

Sometimes, the cure is due to internal reasons. You might need to analyse and regulate your lifestyle, food intake, exercise, stress levels etc… Health supplements might help but it’s not always. Moreover, external solutions such as  the exploding collection of beauty products you have may not guarantee success.

So, start understanding your skin today! 🙂
