[Beauty Tools Part 3] My Everyday Look – Make Up and Panasonic Multi-Styling Straightener EH-HW58-K

Hi girls!

Today I will be sharing with you a comprehensive step-by-step for my ‘everyday look’ which involves minimal make-up as well as styling my hair using the Panasonic Multi-Styling Straightener EH-HW58-K.

Photo 30-7-14 4 44 19 pm

Don’t we all look like this when we wake up first thing in the morning?

Dull oily skin with messy hair?

Let me show you how to achieve a presentable look, with nothing too much or little and yet still look gorgeous in a short period of time! 🙂

These are the make-up stuffs which I used.

Photo 30-7-14 5 34 05 pm

This includes of the following :-

1. Chanel Foundation Compact Powder Vitalumiere Eclat

2. Silkygirl Shimmer Duo Blusher

3. Etude House Face Highlight

4. Canmake Highlighter

5. Missha Under-eye Concealer

6. Makeon Brown Shimmer Eyeliner

5. Shimmer White Eyeliner

6. Bourjois Ultra Black Liquid Eyeliner

7. Bourjois Brown Eyebrown Pencil

8. theBalm Bronzer

9. 2 Brushes – 1 for contouring and 1 for applying blusher

First after bathing and cleansing your face thoroughly after a night’s sleep, ensure your hands are clean before wearing your contacts.

Photo 30-7-14 4 52 08 pm

I opt for a more natural looking design with enlarging the pupil effect.

Starting out with my bare face with just my contact lens on.

Photo 30-7-14 4 53 36 pm

Applying sunblock before makeup is a MUST and I’m currently using Biore UV Bright Face Milk [Pink] Sunblock with an SPF of 50++.

Then I start applying the Chanel Compact Powder. Remember to apply it downwards as you do not want to clog your pores. Only apply upwards for substances that contains nutrients such as moisturiser and essence.

Photo 30-7-14 4 56 55 pm

Next, line your eye thinly.

Photo 30-7-14 4 59 36 pm

Photo 30-7-14 5 00 07 pm

Then draw your eyebrows.

Photo 30-7-14 5 05 04 pm

Photo 30-7-14 5 05 58 pm

Hehe, I know my eyebrows need some trimming…and recently I have hopped onto the ulzzang look for eyebrows!

And then conceal your dark circles and blemishes.

Photo 30-7-14 5 07 45 pm

Use a brown eyeliner to line your below your eyes and join them to the upper eyeliner on the sides.

And then stick on fake eyelashes.

Now this is optional, you may opt for a more simple look without putting on fake eyelashes or may prefer applying mascara for a more natural look, which I have blogged about in my previous blog post.

Photo 30-7-14 5 21 43 pm

Contour your nose if you prefer.

Photo 30-7-14 5 22 22 pm

Blend it well and apply highlighter on your forehead, nose bridge, undereyes, chin as well as on your laugh lines.

Photo 30-7-14 5 24 08 pm

Draw the inner eye corners with the shimmery white eyeliner for the innocent doe-eyed look as well as ‘open’ up your eyes, resulting in livelier eyes!

Photo 30-7-14 5 26 09 pm

Apply blusher.

Photo 30-7-14 5 27 12 pm

You may apply outwards and upwards for a slimmer looking face or apply it at the bottom of your cheekbones.

For the hair, I straightened my hair using the Panasonic Multi-Styling Straightener EH-HW58-K which generously offers a 6-in-1 styling hair designs.

Using the same method in my video tutorial and steps mentioned in my previous blog post using the Nano Straightener, slide it down straight instead of curling. This should be much easier than curling.

And…TADAH!

What does it mean to be a beauty blogger?

Anyone can be a blogger these days but being a ‘power blogger? That is a totally different issue. Being a beauty blogger is one who shares beauty tips and reviews with the readers, who are substantially females. However, that is not to say that men aren’t welcomed either since there is now a growing trend and demand by men on beauty and aesthetic services. This is understandable because everyone wants to look their best! 🙂

To be honest, I was on the verge of giving up on this ‘Best Beauty Blog’ contest because I had ZERO knowledge and experience in creating videos and editing them, as well as ZERO hands-on experience using the hair stylers. I was actually one of the few who was struggling using the styler, even during the Beauty Workshop with Panasonic Singapore. Also, you could see that I still struggled my way through in my video tutorial on using the Panasonic EH-HS95-K Nanocare Straightener. However, I did not edit those ‘NG’ (‘Not Good’) parts because I believe in putting an honest front and moreover, I am not a professional make-up or hair stylist and started off knowing zilch to creating the full works!

I pressed on not only because I love challenges but also because of the encouragements given by my family and friends. For that, I deeply appreciate it. 🙂

Because of this contest, I have learnt so much within such a short period of time.

This includes creating videos which I have been wanting to do for the longest time and now, I can start creating more vlogs! Vlogs are more useful for beauty bloggers in a way because processes of using beauty tools can be more accurately and clearly portrayed compared to using only pictures, which can be a hassle to snap at every stage. My ‘Everyday Makeup Look’ had only pictures instead of videos because I am down with a sore throat and cough. Even during the video tutorial on ‘How to put on fake eyelashes fast’, I was sick and had to suppress my cough which occurs every 10 mins or so. It was tough, I must admit. Till now, I am still suffering from a bad sore throat and cough 😦

Apart from these skills, I had also learnt and understood better issues such as the importance of networking, those who would conscientiously root and vote for you and those who aren’t that willing to do so, and also how to use the hair beauty tools which I made the effort to watch countless of videos.

I am thankful for this opportunity for being one of the finalists for ‘Best Beauty Blog’ and special thanks go out to Panasonic Singapore and OMY.sg in organising this Singapore Blog Awards. Of course, not forgetting to my voters and Facebook fans as well. ❤ 😀

[Beauty Tools Part 1] Beauty Tools to Achieve Fluttery Eyelashes!

After you have watched my video tutorial on how to style your hair using the the Panasonic EH-HS95-K Nanocare Straightener,  are you wondering what other beauty tools that I cannot live without?

Well, here is the list of beauty tools that I use to pamper and beautify myself : )

1. Eyelash curler

Photo 29-7-14 11 30 15 pm

It is every girl’s dream to have fluttery eyelashes that mesmerise, including me. I am currently using the Brigitte Eyelash Curler which I use for both my real natural eyelashes as well as for fake eyelashes.

I have also made a comparison between Panasonic Heated Eyelash Curler EH-SE60 below for you to better understand the differences between a normal eyelash curler and a heated one.

Photo 29-7-14 8 14 39 pm

2. Electric eyelash curler

Photo 29-7-14 11 33 43 pm

A comprehensive step-by-step tutorial which is easy to follow is provided at the back of the packaging box

A battery-operated heated eyelash curler

Now, I am sure many of you are curious as to the differences between a heated eyelash curler and a normal eyelash curler, am I right? Well, I was equally curious too so I experimented on my eyelashes which would provide the most accurate illustration.

Do take note that this heated curler may also be used on fake eyelashes!

Photo 29-7-14 8 22 48 pm

Both seem to do a pretty decent job in curling the lashes. However, I must first disclaim that my eyelash on my left (which is the one that the heated eyelash curler was used) is shorter and more sparse than those on my right. Don’t ask me why, I have no idea too.

Next, what are curled eyelashes without the help of mascara? As with most Asians, we are not blessed with thick and long eyelashes compared to other races, but fret not! Mascara is the key!

I am using the L’Oreal – False Lash Architect 4D Fibre Effect Mascara which is my current favourite now and I consider it to be my Holy Grail 🙂

And because like I have said, I have short and sparse eyelashes, I have been trying to achieve longer and thicker eyelashes with the help of DHC Eyelash Tonic.

Photo 29-7-14 11 20 09 pm

I must say that it really does help growing my eyelashes out 🙂

It is also recommended to be applied before applying mascara so that you still can to nourish your eyelashes even while wearing mascara on and I like to think of it like a ‘primer’ before make-up kind of thing.

However, this is where the problem steps in. 😦

You can see that after curling my eyelashes and applying a layer of DHC Eyelash Tonic, it weighs the eyelashes down, causing it not to be as curled up as before.

Photo 29-7-14 8 26 23 pm

If you are thinking that this isn’t a big issue because you can just curl it again, then you are wrong!

You should never curl your eyelashes after applying eyelash tonic or mascara. This is because after applying these chemicals onto your eyelashes, they become more vulnerable and even more brittle. Hence, if you were to apply pressure on them, they would break and drop easily. Certainly not what I desire for.

Photo 29-7-14 8 29 17 pm

However, compared to the other eye which I used the heated eyelash curler, after applying the eyelash tonic, I could still curl the eyelashes up without apply much pressure on them.

Photo 29-7-14 8 33 10 pm

And this is how it looks like after applying mascara.

Photo 29-7-14 8 35 53 pm

A full comparison of both eyelashes :

Photo 29-7-14 8 35 38 pm

So which would you choose?

I reckon the answer is quite obvious 😉

3. Fake eyelash + glue

Putting on mascara can be a hassle especially if your mascara results in clumping and removing them is such a hassle!

But fret not, because fake eyelashes are here to rescue!

Many girls rely heavily on them to create fluttery eyelashes. As for me, I prefer more ‘natural’ looking ones such as the one below.

Photo 30-7-14 5 59 12 pm

I have been using this brand for several years and they only cost $4.90 for 6 pairs!!! I do re-use them and you can actually do so if you do not destroy the lash bone structure. Also, the hairs do not drop easily compared to other brands.

Before wearing them on, you will have to snip off the ends of the eyelashes.

The trick is to leave the shorter eyelash hair for the inner corner of your eye and the longest ones at the outer corner. If you leave the longest side for your inner eye, you would look plain weird.

Why? Just think about it.

Our own natural eyelashes grow this way as well if you’d noticed. 🙂

I have done up a video tutorial to show you girls how to put on fake eyelashes fast!

Now you can turn every guy’s head with just a flutter of your beautiful eyelashes! 😛

Finalists and guests

I brought my sister and friend along too 🙂

We were introduced to a few products which we were taught how to them with hands-on experience where we had the chance to try out the products on our friends and vice versa!

The brand ‘Panasonic’ itself should not be an unfamiliar name to all and it has actually been founded since 1918! Panasonic Singapore is responsible for the sales and marketing of consumer electronics and home appliances in Singapore. With the array of beauty products they offer, wanting to consistently improve and develop their products better, Panasonic has come up with a new innovation for hair and beauty care using the nanoe™ technology.

One of the nanoe™ technology products which we were introduced was Panasonic EH-HS95-K Nanocare Straightener.

IMG_6795

You might have heard that using such hair tools may damage your hair as they dry them out but with this nanoe™ technology, it specifically targets this concern and problem.

How so?

This nanoe™ technology takes the moisture from your hair and uses it to create tiny, moisture-rich particles that are small enough to penetrate the shafts of your hair, helping to strengthen and protect it against damage from heat and brushing.

Using a picture to illustrate this nanoe™ technology would help you better understand how it works.

The nanoe™ technology takes naturally occurring ions present in the air and breaks them down into significantly smaller particles that are then combined and held together by water molecules. These new moisture-rich nanoe™ particles—with nearly 1,000 times more moisture than regular ions—are infused into the hair while styling.
In essence, the nanocare straightener helps protect and beautify your hair by taking the moisture that’s on the outside and putting it on the inside. In this case, your hair does not lose its moisture and does not dry out, resulting in smoother, shinier and stronger hair.
What’s more is that the nanocare straightener maintains a consistent temperature on the ceramic plates throughout the styling process, helping to boost curling and straightening performance by as much as 35%!
This is definitely a plus point compared to other straighteners which  have plates that vary in temperature while you are styling your hair.

Hong Ling, a professional beauty make-up artist and beauty stylist carried out a mini demonstration session to show us a few useful tricks in styling our hair for different occasions and events.

Effortlessly and within a short period of time, experienced Hong Ling managed to show us what Panasonic EH-HS95-K Nanocare Straightener can do by illustrating on Michele’s hair!

I must admit that it isn’t easy to curl using a straightener but there are many reasons as to why many women prefer using straightener to curl their hair instead of curling iron.

Firstly, don’t let the term ‘straighteners’ fool you. Straighteners or also known as flat iron, have different stylising functions compared to a curling iron. On top of its straightening and curling functions, it can even make crimps and waves as welll, so you can style your hair at the comfort of your own cosy house for different occasions! That is why many women prefer getting straighteners over curling iron because it’s way definitely more value for money!

Secondly, straighteners give a more defined and long-lasting curls. Why? Because unlike the curling iron which has rounded barrels, straighteners are more angled. So as the segment of hair passes through the straightener, they are more bent resulting in a more defined curl which many women would like to achieve because nobody likes lifeless limping curls and weighs down your hair, failing to give it shape and volume.

Although it does take some time to master the art of curling hair using straightener, once you get the hang of it through practice, it is really easy to do and curling your hair within 10 minutes should not be a problem! As the saying goes, “There are no ugly women, only lazy one”, so practice, practice and more practice! 😀

Here are some snippets of us trying out the products and having fun at the same time as well!

You can see that I was very serious in trying to master the art of curling…..

Photo 13-7-14 11 24 26 pm

And then Hong Ling came round to help out and I took the opportunity to bombard her with burning queries…

Just look at my serious face…@@

Photo 13-7-14 11 24 35 pm

And I had my hair curled as well! 🙂

And that’s me trying to pin my hair to the side for a’ side-sweep look’ which gives a sweeter and more demure feel. 😉

And what is a beauty blogger without a selfie of herself? 😀

Hong Ling also introduced the Nanocare Ionity Hair Dryer EH-NA45 which works similarly to the straightener in which the nanoe penetrates the hair cuticles and delivers water to maintain the moisture balance inside hair.

sba4

On top of that, this Nanocare Ionity Hair Dryer EH-NA45 also contains platinum ions which help to coat the hair surface and tighten the cuticle. Working hand in hand, the double ions work to boost the hair’s moisture content, keeping the hair healthy and beautiful!

You will never have to worry about damaging your hair by blow drying them anymore!

Photo 13-7-14 2 33 51 pm

Photo 13-7-14 3 59 59 pm

After styling Michele’s hair using the straightener, Hong Ling tied and pinned her hair up into a bun and blew it upwards using the hair dryer. This helps to give the hair more volume, which is especially a useful tip for those who desires more volume at the crown. A bee-hive bun can look very sexy yet elegant at the same time and comes in handy when you are having a bad hair day.

Beauty tip: If you love this hairstyle yet afraid to try because of your broad face shape, remember, contouring your face is a must then. Also, make sure you perfect your make up if you were to wear this hair style, because by bunning up your hair, the focus would be on your face instead.

After Hong Ling was done styling Michele’s hair, she touched up her makeup and used the Panasonic Heated Eyelash Curler EH-SE60 which helps to brighten up the eyes!

eyelash

I will be touching more on the Panasonic Heated Eyelash Curler EH-SE60 and the Panasonic Facial Ionic Steamer EH-SA31 in the upcoming blog post. On top of that, I will also be doing a video on a step-by-step tutorial in using the Panasonic EH-HS95-K Nanocare Straightener to create different hairstyles and looks!

So stay tuned! ❤

10 useful tips to achieve an au naturale make-up look which men adore!

Less is more! Too much make-up piled on may backfire your plan in ‘beautifying’ yourself. Enhance your features, not conceal them, save for blemishes, that is. Here are 10 of my personal tips for the au naturale look.

I used to apply thicker and heavier make-up when I was younger and when I first explored the magic of cosmetics. I used to apply eyeliner on my waterline and then slowly ditched it and moved on to applying mascara on my lower lashes instead.

However, it has since been some time that I’ve decided to go light and easy on my make-up as I grow older. Despite that, my bf’s affirmation of beauty has helped me achieve greater confidence with lighter make-up.

On days when I’m merely heading to work and back home, I’ll have my specs on with minimal make-up on my face, which only includes the basics such as foundation, concealer (for my horrendous dark circles), eyeliner as well as light blusher on. Of course, my brows would have to be drawn too.

On days when I’ll be heading out after work, I’ll change into contacts, stick on falsies and add a little shimmery pearl white eyeliner at my tear ducts and lower eyelids. Of course, blending it well for a gentler and lighter look, but yet still able to brighten up those tired eyes.

You will only see me with heavier make-up if I go for the dope/rockchic look or for outings such as clubbing, but not always. It depends on my mood and time constraints, if any.

Other than that, I’ve learnt to discover that LESS IS ALWAYS MORE!

Don’t believe? Ask the guys! And I’m sure many of them would admit that girls with lesser/lighter make-up that looks closest to natural is more attractive than those with dramatic and heavy make-up.

Unless you’re gonna headbang and be rocking ur ass off like a rock star everyday, I suggest to tone down your make-up.

Here are 2 tips to achieve a natural look with make-up :

1. If you have great skin, try to skip the foundation and opt for a tinted moisturiser instead. And if you have blemishes, just pat the concealer lightly over them.

2. But if you must, do remember to choose the appropriate and right colour shade for your foundation. Those with wrong colour shades which can obviously be seen by comparing the face and the neck or arms would tell you that they do not look natural at all. I have seen so many girls with a shade too light from their natural colour skin, especially in photographs where the background is dark and flash lights are required. A major turn-off.

For more useful tips, read my beauty article on MFP here! 🙂

Before I forget, I know the ulzzang trend is piping hot right now and girls now dig having dark and thick eyebrows. But if you’re gonna go for the natural look, consider going easy on the tone and shade of the brows! 😉

Have fun reading! 😀
