Food Review – Le Chocolat Cafe + Updates

Last Sunday saw me snacking and chillax-ing with the bf  at Le Chocolat Cafe at Ann Siang Road. Before that, we were around the corner at Keong Saik Road for food tasting at Moojaa, Mookata Thai  BBQ Steamboat. I was very honored to be invited for food tasting (my first!) and many more to come (pending plans). Will be blogging about it soon, once I retrieve the pictures from my Canon G1x – woes of wanting high quality reso pictures but attached with the hassle of extracting it from an external source – unlike instant uploading, posting and transferring into my exploding dropbox folder via iPhone. Heh.

Bf is the adventurous sort and he has been wanting to explore Ann Siang Hill/Road for the longest time. We have plans to explore other areas too! Because Singapore is too boring, exploring is fun! For me, I am the boring old fart who prefers consistency and totally not adventurous. I don’t like trying out new things. Take for example my food choices. I can eat and drink almost the same thing over and over again and not wanting to climb out of my comfort zone. Whereas for bf, he likes trying new things so in a way, we complement each other! 🙂 They say opposites attract, anyway don’t they?

Not wanting to spoil the mood, I “trekked” Ann Siang Hill. Okay, fine, it’s just some small slightly elevated relief area. But thank god I was in flats, if not !@#$%

We toured around quite a while, snapping pictures and all before deciding to settle down at a cozy cafe – Le Chocolat Cafe 🙂

Didn’t manage to snap pictures of the whole cafe. Was too embarrassed to do so in public…And that’s bf’s half face lol =x

Latte, Rainbow Cake with Choco Fudge and Mocha Frappe

Photo 23-06-2013 08 39 29 PM

I squealed at the sight of the rainbow cake! I saw many people posting pictures on it because and others who even baked them own (I can’t cook for nuts! Well, except maggie mee :D)

But but but, I think it’s quite over-rated! I went ahead for it even though its quite pricey – $7.90 per piece, because I wanted to try! Bf’s adventurous disease passed on to me, lol =p

I tried a few mouthfuls, and then told bf, “feels like eating the colouring leh…” which he agreed.

I didn’t quite like the ‘artificial’ colouring taste 😦

Photo 23-06-2013 08 23 12 PM

I think I look damn ugly in this picture, especially my nose. Ugh. Nose fillers, anyone? LOL.

Bf’s latte tasted not bad, my mocha frappe was okay too. Perhaps I should have requested for no whip cream. And I didn’t know mocha frappe could last me throughout the night, well almost, that I suffered from insomnia that night! UGH!

All in all, Le Chocolat Cafe is a good place to chill if you don’t mind spending that extra cash 🙂

Trying my best to suck my tummy in….HAHAHA.

Oh and before I forget, I’ve been sponsored with DRx products!!! Read alot of raves about their products, especially on the Comedone Formula (CF) which supposedly remove blackheads and whiteheads! Also, my dermatologist – Dr Yanni (young pretty lady) complimented on my skin condition!!! Yes!!! I’m so happy and it’s been silently whirling inside my head ever since my last visit. I am truly blessed with good skin by nature 🙂

That could also be the reason why the number of products sponsored are lesser than other bloggers’. On top of these products, I am also given the (all not in picture) X cream (to remove acne marks – due to my acne breakout caused by stress/skin biotics/SK II products) as well as a strong lightener (for my birthmarks) and eczema ointment (complained about my cold sore problem and guess what, after applying the ointment, my cold sore hasn’t been ‘activated’ ever since!!! Damn happy abt it because this means less embarrassing moments of having sausages lips! Google cold sore but don’t judge me on this. Had this cold sore problem since sec sch days. Most prolly transmitted through bacteria via saliva.)

My main purpose of dropping by DRx Clinic was actually to remove my birthmarks. I have 3 in total – left elbow which is the size of a 50c coin, 1 HUGEASS one on my left inner thigh which is heart-shaped – yes I kid you not and another lighter, in fact, the lightest on my right thigh – also the size of a 50c coin).

The first consultation was to assess whether my type of birthmarks can be removed – pls note that not all birthmarks can be removed and laser treatments require alot of patience because they require a long-term follow up and ALOT OF TOLERANCE for painnn….

Will blog about this again when I’ve more results to review. As for now, I can only say that the Comedone Formula (CF) works very effectively for many others and within 1-2 days, I could already see promising results!!! I cannot rave more 🙂

WIN PRETTY APPARELS!

Hello you! Here’s a little update on my current life right now. Previously, I’d mentioned that I will be going on a hiatus for awhile due to exams and yes, I’m still having exams which would only end this Friday.

For those who don’t already know, I’m currently pursuing my Master of Laws… So yes, I’m taking a postgraduate course. I feel flattered that some people still thinks I’m an undergrad because it only means 1 thing, that I still look young right? And that I’m still able to pull off as an undergrad. HAHAHA. Self-denial.

So anyway, I’ll be updating this space more often once the nightmarish days are over. Nightmarish days – how ironic, heh. Will be updating on food and beauty reviews so stay tuned! 🙂

Nevertheless, thanks for checking back on this little unpopular dusty virtual space of mine, really really appreciate it 🙂

My Online Shop!

The time has finally come! I am back being a boss… I know I’ve countless online shops before but products were mostly on a pre-order basis. However, I’d decided to take a chance this time round and bring in instocks! I know how long waiting time is such an ass for pre-orders so I’m hoping that things would change for the better this time round!

My entrepreneurial (or rather, techopreneurship) spirit has been growing fiercely in me ever since I was young. I’ve been selling clothes, accessories, shoes, handmade accessories such as earings, necklaces and bracelets and I had even went to the extend to design shoes to sell! I’ve even customised some for customers – who were my niece and nephew la.

Take a look!

But I’d decided to cease operations because it was very time-consuming and lots of efforts were required. Plus, I was still a full-time student at that time during Uni days… and although you can’t convert some intangible into monetary value, it was quite obvious that the effort, time, blood and sweat, not forgetting the numerous of materials required did not justify the price of the shoes. Furthermore, I can’t be pricing my items too high too.

Yup, so here’s my new online shop :

Cheap shift dress from Qoo10!

THIS IS NOT AN ADVERTORIAL. (Must disclaim first)

Good things are meant to be shared and sharing is caring! 😀

As mentioned previously on my Facebook page, I’m gonna share with you guys this particular seller from Qoo10 where I got my shift dress from! I bought brown and burgundy but the latter arrived in dark orange, however the colour shown below does not justify its accurateness. It is really more to orangey colour. Even the ones shown on the seller’s page is the same as the one I snapped, but trust me, it’s more towards orangey colour! That made made a little disappointed.

Please don’t stare at my armpit fats and my fat arms, thank you.

Delivery took about 1 week and item arrived in good condition. The first thing I tested were the zippers at the back of the dress. It got stuck a few times, especially at the extra layer of cloth, but when worn, the zipper is reachable and works perfectly fine.

Other than that, I bought size S and reading from the reviews of others on the seller’s page, be careful of the sizes you choose because most of them complained that they couldn’t fit into their usual sizes. Thankfully, I could but wearing the dress is a hassle because it’s tight, so I do get stuck, haha! But when worn, it looks perfectly fine and fits well on me.

Am happy because I’ve 2 additional dresses for work! I prefer putting on dresses to work because it saves alot of time. You need to crack your brain to think of what bottoms to match with what top.

Oh and I actually wanted the navy one initially but it was out of stock. But luckily, they were only going at $6.90 during a time sale, but has since reverted to $9.90 again. Well, $9.90 for a thick material made of suede is still something to scream for! 😀

If you’re getting them too, share it with your friends as well! 🙂

1-Day Acuvue Define Vivid Style Contact Lenses

First and foremost, I must apologise for those who have been keeping a lookout for my beauty posts and reviews because I must admit I haven’t been writing up much on beauty-related stuffs.

As my sis is working in an optical shop in the marketing dept, I’d got the opportunity to try out 1-Day Acuvue Define contact lenses! I was given a choice to choose 2 different types of contact lenses and I chose Vivid Style and Natural Shine.

I must also disclaim that this is NOT a paid/sponsored advertorial but based on my own personal experience. If you have been following my blog and observant enough, I would clearly state that an advertorial is an advertorial at the start of the entry post. But nevertheless, even sponsored/paid advertorials are based on my own personal experience and opinions and are in no way biased or prejudiced. I believe in providing constructive and useful reviews and feedback on the products because I understand how important reviews are when an interested and potential buyer is on the lookout for them – simply because I am just like you are! Shop smart because money is difficult to earn. Learn and read more about products that you’re gonna spend your hard-earned money on and spend only if you think it’s worth buying.

Okay, let’s not digress any further. I shall leave my naggings for another day (signs of ageing) 😦

And this is me wearing the vivid style lenses.

Tied up hair 🙂

A close up :

A comparison of the size of an eye wearing the lens and the other without :

For the benefit of others who are interested in 1-Day Acuvue’s daily lenses, here are some of style which they have to offer.

I remember my 1st pair of contact lenses were coloured ones from Fresh Kon and were almost the same colour as Vivid Style from Acuvue. Fresh Kon ones are monthly disposable type compared to the 1-day Acuvue which is daily disposable.

I decided that monthly ones from optical shop are rather expensive compared to those yearly ones. Do note that yearly ones are encouraged to be worn 6 to 9 months only and extra hygiene and care has to be taken because dirt and residue are more likely to remain.

For my saline solution, I use Bausch and Lomb because firstly, they are cheap! Mostly sold in twin or triple packs in Watsons and so far, so good. No problems. I use those specially for sensitive eyes too.

My review on 1-Day Acuvue Vivid Style :

Pros –

  1. Colour-wise, very simple and appropriate for work or formal events. I have come across girls who stick on to lenses which gives a more natural look rather than those coloured ones.
  2. Creates bigger looking eyes

Cons –

  1. I’m not sure if I’ve sensitive eyes or what, but some contact lenses do sting. However, if I were to rewash them again, sometimes they become perfectly fine again. I’m talking about newly opened lenses and wearing them on my first attempt.
  2. I find them quite drying after awhile. Usually at work, I will stick to my specs, because you know how easily your eyes tire out after staring at the computer screen for few hours and what’s more, my job as a Legal Counsel requires me to read alot because I have to vet and review legal contracts and conduct legal researches as well. I would usually print out the documents so as to reduce the time spent staring at the computer screen.

Honestly, I expected much more from contact lenses sold in optical shops, because they are supposed to be safer and provide more comfort, right? However, I am a little disappointed with this 1-Day Acuvue lenses, but I will give it another shot soon to provide a more holistic view since I mentioned that they are alright after cleansing. I will try on another fresh new pair again to see how it goes. Hopefully, they don’t pose anymore discomfort and drying.

Also, I don’t usually put eye drops because of a silly reason – it causes my falsies to drop because the adhesive from the glue doesn’t stick anymore. Hence, I try to reduce the number of times wearing contact lenses and restrict to times when I need them – After work if I’m going out, i’ll bring a pair along. I’ve a bottle of saline solution in my office drawer, so it’s okay. Either that, mainly reserved for TGIFs since we get to dress down and wearing a pair of specs just ruin my whole image. HAHA. Over the weekends, definitely contact lenses if I head out.

Another brand of contact lenses which turned out to be a huge disappointment is Maxi lenses. Most optical shops that carry Maxi lens offers a promotion of ‘Buy 2 get 2 Free’ which is extremely tempting, especially for those who are frequent users. I bought 4 pairs in total as a result, violet, blue, grey and brown (these are my usual colours). However, the 1st pair I worn caused much discomfort as well and subsequently, so did the 2nd pair. I’m still left with 2 brand new pairs lying on my make up table. 😦

The most comfortable ones are ironically the ones I get online such as Geo lens. If you are looking to achieve bigger eyes, my advice is to get those with black outer rings as they enlarge the pupils and are more prominent.

Also, it’s really gross to see girls with super artificially big eyes. It’s like they are almost covering the whole of their eye-white? Eew. Hence, the best bet is to get something around 14-15mm depending on the size of your eye sockets. I’ve tried 16 to 18mm ones and they just look really really weird. You don’t wanna look like Furby don’t you? Currently, my contact lenses are about 14.2mm and they look just fine on me.

Sometimes, they saying of ‘Less is more’ is true and applies to beauty as well, like minimalising the amount of make up on your face instead of piling tonnes resulting in a geisha or tranny look.

Hopefully my review on 1-Day Acuvue Define (Vivid Style) is of some help to you.

Thanks for reading! 😀

Psst, HAPPY MID-WEEK! 🙂

And Happy 58th love ❤

xoxo,

Jean

Beauty Review – Want big dolly eyes that sparkle?

Sponsored Advertorial

Geo lens contacts were one of the first few brands I’d tried when I’d first started to wear cosmetic contact lenses! I’m sure they were pretty much everyone’s as well.

Shipped in directly from Korea, GEO Contact Lens is the official distributor of GEO Cosmetic Color Lenses. The prices and quality of the contact lenses are strongly backed up by GEO Medical Co.,Ltd.

GEO Contact Lens has generously sponsored me with 2 pretty pairs of Geo lenses and of which, I will be reviewing 1 pair today! 🙂

I’m wearing GEO Angel Violet (Magic Color)! 🙂

Personally, the colours I would wear for contact lenses are black, grey, blue, pink and violet. I’m not a fan of red, green or other weirdass colours.

The trick to getting bigger dolly eyes is to choose those with a black outer ring, not only does it help to enlarge your pupils, they magically enhance your eyes too, giving them an alluring sparkling look!

In addition, other than proper care and usage of the lens, when choosing contact lenses, try not to get those with extra large diameters like 18mm. I think 16 to 18mm is rather big. I’d tried them on before and it just adds on to the artificiality! Whenever I see girls with overwhelming sizes of contact lens, it’s not only a major turn off but it kinda reminds me of Furby?! That scary looking toy… 😦

The one I’m wearing is only 14.2mm but it looks perfectly fine on me, not too big not too small. Most importantly, it fits the size of your eyes and eye sockets.

Another disadvantage in choosing a over-sized contact lens is that you might feel a ‘cutting’ feeling under your top eyelids. Based on my personal experience, that’s because not all eyes can withstand such huge diameters of the contact lenses. I’ve encountered this before and trust me, it was really a waste of money when you can’t continue wearing them anymore and have to discard a new pair! 😦

So thank god, Geo lens series range from 14.2mm – 15.0mm! And that’s another reason why you should shop with GEO Contact Lens ! 🙂

Last but not least, and of utmost importance, all GEO contact lenses from GEO Contact Lens comes with an anti-fake sticker which provides a 20 digit codes and you are able to check the authenticity of your lenses with GEO Medical Co.,Ltd ● GEO Authentication.

With more than 14,000 fans on their Facebook fan page, there’s no reason why you shouldn’t start shopping with GEO Contact Lens today!!! 🙂

For another review of the other pretty pair of Geo lenses, do stay tuned! ❤

A short update

Hey all!

I’m down with a viral fever, most probably caught it from my colleague who caught it from her little son.. On 3days’ MC but guess I’ll be heading back to work tomorrow. Fever has subsided as I opted for the injection last night at the hospital clinic. And boy, the jab was quite painful. Felt like a super duper painful muscle ache! Expensive yes and overall spent $200++, but all’s worth it for health because health is wealth.

My resistance and immune system hasn’t been very strong lately and I’ve been falling sick ever since. 😦

Anyway, here are some of my recent loots, online and retail 🙂

Basic long tank tops are my fav! Easy to match with leggings or you can just wear them as a short dress 🙂

Bandage skirts have taken over the ladies’ closet by storm and I’m sure they are here to stay because they not only accentuate your feminine curves and basic colours like that are really easy to match with a patterned top! 🙂

And then I gotten myself some intimate wears… Teehee~

Seller placed the cute undies in these little drawstring bag pouches 🙂

So it looks like this 🙂

Bought the tank tops, bandage skirts and undies from this seller at Gmarket who was kind enough to reward me with free registered postage as I had bought a handful of stuffs from her 🙂 Great customer service there! 😀

And then I’ve also received some sponsored contact lenses as well 🙂
If you are looking for authentic GEO lens, don’t forget to watch this space for updates! 🙂

And somemore intimate wears from John Little Sales 🙂

Been looking for a black flats and these cute polka dots really melted my heart! 🙂

So there, a little short update on my loots 🙂

At least receiving them cheers me up a little! Imma go have my nap now… The meds are making me drowsy and groggy and not forgetting, forgetful and difficult to concentrate, like how I can’t remember if I’d washed my face during bath -.-

Meds meds meds… 😦

Used to be known as East Shore Hospital… I was delivered at birth there! 😀

Alrightys, hope Monday’s not as grim for you like mine is…

Have a good day ahead! 😀

P.S. : Oh and don’t forget to check out my latest article on Lipsticks and colour gradients on MyFatPocket! 🙂

xoxo,

Jean
