Braces journey for underbite (ending soon)

Yes, the title says it all!

Visited the dentist yesterday for my monthly tightening of my braces and I must be pleased to announce that Dr Lim informed me that I will be able to remove my braces soon!!!

I have been pestering him about this each time I visit him…HAHA!

Because the main problem of my underbite has been solved and my teeth are generally straightened now, I don’t see anymore progress/changes/reasons for the braces, but the recent months had Dr Lim trying to adjust/rotate some 1 or 2 teeth as they are not perfectly aligned and equal with the rest.

photo 1 (44)

Currently, I am rotating 1 of my 2 front teeth as it has been pushed too far out (afraid I’m gonna have buck teeth soon…!) and so we are trying to adjust it back to where it should be.

After this is done, hopefully successful, Dr Lim mentioned that I can set up my retainers which require the machine for the teeth mould…and which Q&M Bedok Branch does not have. So Imma have to head down to most probably the Orchard branch.

I asked Dr Lim if my underbite would recur once I am off my braces and do I have to rely on the retainers perpetually?

I have heard news of how my friend’s underbite recurred after he took off his braces and highlighted this to Dr Lim. He mentioned that it shouldn’t be the case unless the patient was still at the growing stage, which I thought this may most probably be the reason why as my friend did it presumably quite young (since he told me last year when he was 20?).

It is a little contradicting because I was told that wearing braces should be during when one is still young so the teeth and bone structure will be easier to shift. That was also the reason why I was skeptical in the first time as I only started wearing braces and attempting to correct my underbite a year ago, at the age of 25.

But I am very thankful for being so lucky!

I managed to solve my underbite problem at such later age and WITHOUT having to undergo any jaw surgery. I have heard how painful and expensive it is for that surgery. And and and, I was quoted 2 years by Dr Lim when we first started out but because everything seems to go so smoothly…I’ll be able to remove my braces waaaaay before that!

So anyway, I started out with my teeth looking like this :

jan braces

My top teeth were crooked and I had an underbite.

My current teeth looks like this :

So much improvements within 1 year and 2 months right? 😀

So so so happy!!

Dr Lim used an additional wire to tighten my upper row hence no pinky rubberbands…

This is how my teeth adjustments have progressed over the months (sorry for the lack of pictures in Jan and Feb)

I’ll be returning for my review again in 3 weeks’ time so please pray hard for me that my tooth would be obedient and then I’ll be ready to be metal-teeth NO MORE! 😀

I have been receiving a handful of queries regarding my braces and underbite (didn’t know there were so many people in Sg facing the same problem too). Thank you so much for reading and accompanying me through my journey! 🙂

I hope I can be of help to everyone alright! 🙂

Updates on My Braces Journey for My Underbite

This has got to be one of my most popular topics on my blog because I keep receiving loads of queries on this! I never knew underbite problems was so prominent in Singapore….I’d thought it only affects a handful of the population.

So here’s my reply : No, I did not undergo any form of surgery for my jaw/chin for my underbite problem.  I managed to ‘jump’ the bite, switching from an underbite (where the bottom row of teeth overlaps the top row when you bite) to a normal bite (where the top row now overlaps the bottom row).

I must admit that I am indeed very lucky to succeed in ‘jumping’ the bite because my case should most probably be a skeletal problem and at my age, the success rate is not 100%, as the bones are already stiff and hardened.

If you’d googled, most of the underbite cases should ideally start from young as it is easier to change the skeletal/jaw structure, but then again which parent would go easy in getting your child to undergo a jaw surgery? Braces nevertheless is still fine though.

Dr Lim from Q&M did pre-empt me that there won’t be a 100% success rate in ‘jumping’ the bite and it really depends on individual…So you can say that I took a risk there. I was thinking, even if I did not manage to ‘jump’ the bite, I would still have straighter teeth, right? LOL, trying to be positive here…

From the pictures, you can see that I managed to ‘jump’ the bite within about 7 months, where the 2 front teeth has managed to overlap the bottom row. The overlapping was subsequently improved over the months there after.

grey Braces (for underbite) Journey Updates

This was in July 2013.

I have been wearing my braces on for 11 months now, how time flies indeed!

The braces journey has not been a smooth-sailing one, I mean c’mon, who would have such a happy journey wearing metal wires and brackets, straining, pulling, tugging everything all in one in their mouths?

Not forgetting the annoying ulcers, the cuts and the worst experience ever where the frenulum of my tongue actually got caught onto the metal bracket and got me panicking, crying and rushing to the nearest A&E hospital to have it removed?

Not forgetting the $$$ I had to pay….ARGH!

It is not an easy journey especially when you have to wear those annoying rubber-bands which might snap if you over-stretch it when opening your mouth to eat, yawn or talk etc.

I must also admit that I have not been conscientiously wearing the rubber bands…I was advised that I could now wear them only at night, but yesterday during my monthly visit at the dental clinic, Dr Lim told me that ideally it should be daily, day and night. 😦

I guess he could tell that I have not been wearing the rubber bands because he asked me that question full of suspicion. Well, I guess it’s hard to hide it from a professional 😉

Dr Lim is okay, he is friendly but sometimes I feel he’s kinda rough with his actions. I have had some stuffs dropped into my mouth before, onto my tongue (thank god not into my throat and choking me) and getting a small cut at the side of my mouth too. I have sensitive lips so I get a little icky and uptight whenever I’ve stuffs touching or near my lips/mouth.

Anyway, sorry for missing Oct’s updates.. Here are the pictures 🙂

October :

Yes, there is a missing pink rubber band on 1 of the metal bracket because there is a wire around the main metal wire if you see closely. That was to rotate the tooth.

A comparison from Jan to Nov (now) :

Click on the picture for a bigger image! 🙂

braces jan to nov

I’ve decided to be a good girl and wear those annoying rubberbands from now onwards… My jaw is still a little protruding as you can see from the pictures. But might also be amplified by my sunken cheeks…so…

I’ve been asking Dr Lim when can I get my braces removed because I really hate it and want to be able to smile confidently and beautifully. I’ve never had a beautiful smile with teeth showing in my entire life, so I really cannot wait! But because I did not reduce my jaw, I still look weird smiling with a little protruding jaw but I’ve seen pretty girls who have those ‘V-shaped’ face with a tad protruding jaw, with straight perfect teeth smiling, and still look gorgeous. Praying hard I will be able to achieve that in time to come too! 🙂

For now, Dr Lim is still trying to rotate of of my teeth to the right position and I guess once we are done with that, and tackling all other problems, cleaning and filling my cavities (I have a handful 😦 till date I actually lost count how many I’ve done thus far)… I will be braces-free!

By the way, the fillings aren’t cheap. It costs $70 per tooth so you can imagine how much to pay, on top of the monthly instalment.

My total braces is $4.2k EXCLUDING GST and monthly, I’ve to pay approx $180-$190 for the instalments including GST. I’ve paid $2k first and decide to pay the remaining in instalments because it’s very heart-wrenching to see all $4k+ gone just like that!

And yes, I’m paying it myself.

Feel so broke everytime I leave the dental clinic. 😦

Do note that a jaw surgery or chin augmentation or whatever they call it would prove a 100% success rate in achieving a reduced jaw and solving the underbite problem.

But then again, such surgery is like with any other full-blown surgery that involves risks and potential complications that may arise. You will be required to be hospitalised for weeks (?), swell up alot till almost beyond recognition…well at least that’s what the google images show. And it would be perform by a qualified surgeon, not your dentist.

I’ve seen my friend’s friend who had undergone a jaw surgery but it doesn’t to cure her protruding jaw problem? I’m not sure because she was still on braces and perhaps hasn’t ‘jump’ the bite yet?

I was advised by dentists that the surgery would cost me about $20k??? Can’t remember if the costs of the braces were included as well, but that friend’s friend mentioned that the surgery only costs about $5k?

So I’m not too sure either.

By the way, if you decide to go for the surgery, take note you will still need to put on the braces thereafter. It won’t automatically solve your underbite problem completely.

However, as I am not a dentist, it is best to seek advice from your own dentist.

Do keep those queries coming in, I’ll be glad to help if I can 🙂

Braces, Geo contact lens + LED lamp for Gelish manicure and pedicure!

It’s MID-WEEK! Hoorays! But this week’s gonna be a short one due to the public holiday this coming Fri! 🙂

Anyway, I’ll be dropping by Q&M toight for my monthly dental visit and I’ve done up another comparison thus far.

Not much difference though and I’m kinda disappointed because I don’t see anymore movements. But maybe the inner teeth have moved because I did feel some tightness here and there throughout March. Also because I’ve still not been able to ‘jump’ the bite yet and most of the times when I wake up, I find myself clenching my teeth (perhaps I was angry during my sleep?!) and the position of my teeth is still an underbite alignment. 😦

Nevertheless, the comparison thus far :

For March

braces march

For Jan, Feb and March

braces

There’s nothing much to cheer about except for the fact that my top row is much straighter now as compared to the past before putting on the braces.

Sigh, I really hope I will be able to ‘jump’ the bite soon. I still can’t smile properly showing my teeth.

This is the best I can do without looking retarded.

Don’t laugh okay?

I guess these are the only two pictures you will see with me smiling with teeth shown, unless you caught me on candid camera which I’m very sure I will look like a dork and I would kill you for that.

By the way, smiling like this makes me even more self-conscious of not only my smile/teeth, but also my chin, nose and cheeks.

I have an indent face. My face is really skinny and my jaw-line is extremely defined.

Actually, I don’t have cheeks at all.

Apple cheeks are cute. Long pointy indented cheeks make you look like an old hag and even more haggard looking than your real age.

I used to be RREEALLL fat before puberty but lost them all after reaching puberty, combined with vigorous exercise. I started learning Taekwondo at the age of 10 and achieved my 1st black belt dan at 14. But with my current age and body condition now, I doubt I can be as robust as before.

Okay, nvm, so back to the cheeks.

Seen some improvements on QiuQiu’s blog and facebook on her fat-grafting of the face and really tempts me. But I don’t wish to look like a swollen pig head.

Another thing is, my nose looks stubby and I hate my protruding chin due to my underbite and skeletal structure.

I just hate my side profile. :(((

By the way, the 2 pictures above took me some time to capture them, despite still being imperfect. The rest were just plain dorky and I had a hard time trying to position my mouth, chin and teeth altogether to create this ‘somewhat-near-perfect-smile’.

So far so good! They are comfortable to wear but inevitably and occasionally, they would dry out if I stare at my phone (most of the times concentrating hard on Candy Crushing!) for too long. Try blinking or look far after that, or just carry along eye drops with you 🙂

This is normal and happens with any and every contact lens you wear. Even if I wear contact lenses from optical shops such as Fresh Kon and Maxi lens, my eyes dry out easily too! Furthermore, if you’ve read my previous review on these 2 optical brands, you would know that they suck! >=[

By the way, the lady boss of GEO CONTACT LENS, Kimmy is extremely friendly and helpful! She would go the extra mile to clear your doubts and explain whatever is required. 🙂

So go check out those pretty lenses at GEO CONTACT LENS now!!! 😀

I bought some stuffs from Gmarket (still prefer calling them this than Qoo10) :

Photo 27-03-2013 08 41 54 AM

Photo 27-03-2013 08 45 07 AM

I bought the LED lamp (18watts) for 169$ and I am super duper pleased with this seller on Gmarket! This is my 2nd purchase from her. Previously gotten a bottle of Acetone at 10$ for self-removal of gelish nails!

Her replies are very prompt and very helpful and most importantly, she delivers her items very promptly! I made the order last Sunday 24th and received the item yesterday on the 26th! How fast a delivery could that be???
She even sent a free gift as per above – Cuticle cutter.

Because good things must be shared and sharing is caring (that’s the whole point of my blog), so here goes :

LED Lamp

Gelish Cleanser

Crystalife (Seller)

If you have been following my blog, you would know that I have been using the lousy UV Lamp with 36 watts, which does not cure gelish nail polishes well and takes a longer time to do so. I am still thinking if I should sell it as 2nd hand or keep it to cure my pedicure when I’m doing my manicure.

But if anyone’s interested, do let me know and I will take into consideration of selling it cheap at a low price! It’s rarely being used, honestly.

I would do up a comparison between UV lamp and a LED lamp soon when time permits. Artistic (300-400$++)and Gelish Harmony (500-600$$++) LED Lamps are just WAAAYYY TOOOOO EXPENSIVE!!!

But I’ve to let you know that it’s working, has automated sensor of 30sec and it’s EXTREMELY IRRESISTIBLY ADORABLE!!!

The time will depend on how thick each layer applied.

Foundation base – 10 to 30sec
Gelish color – 30sec to 45sec
Top-if-off – 20-30sec

But I don’t think I will be reviewing this cute ribbon LED lamp anytime soon since I’ve just gotten my manicure and pedicure done last week for a wedding last Sunday at Fingertip Nail Care 🙂

I know I have the world’s ugliest toes. :(((

But I know many of you can’t resist the cuteness of this LED Lamp, do stay tuned for my reviews okay? 🙂

Also because there aren’t any reviews online so far for this LED lamp (I can’t find any!) and no reviews available on Gmarket as well, except for mine. LOL!

Love y’all! 🙂

Braces!!!

Yes, I’ve finally put my foot down on this. I’ve been wanting to get my braces done like eons ago and at last, I’m one step closer to achieving my goal – a million dollar smile. Or at least, a decent smile which I can proudly show my teeth.

In my previous post, I’ve talked about how I have a class III jaw type and based on my research, most class III jaws require jaw surgery, which I know would guarantee a 100% success rate in order to push back my lower jaw and bring my upper jaw forward.

A little brief info :

Occlusion refers to the alignment of teeth and the way that the upper and lower teeth fit together (i.e. your ‘bite’).Malocclusion means the teeth are not aligned properly.

Ideally, all upper teeth would fit slightly over the lower teeth. The points on the surface of the molars would fit the grooves of the opposite molar.

There are three different categories of malocclusion:

  • Class 1 malocclusion, which is the most common, occurs when the bite is normal, but the upper teeth slightly overlap the lower teeth.
  • Class 2 malocclusion, known as an overbite, occurs when the upper jaw and teeth severely overlap the bottom jaw and teeth.
  • Class 3 malocclusion, known as an underbite, occurs when the lower jaw protrudes or juts forward, causing the lower jaw and teeth to overlap the upper jaw and teeth.

And because my teeth looks like this :

Which I consider to be quite a severe underbite (class III) since my bottom teeth is covering about half of my top teeth, my orthodontist had to place the braces in such a way that it wouldn’t disturb my natural normal bite.

My orthodontist is so far still acceptable in terms of his professionalism from the point of view of a customer/patient. However, I wasted 18$ cabbing down from work in order to rush to the dental clinic Q&M Dental Clinic at Bedok all for nothing! He was 1h30m LATE and I was really furious because I lacked sleep the night before and was starving. Thank goodness the nurse/receptionist advised me to have my dinner first since he’s late. My appt was scheduled at 6.30pm, I reached at about 6.40pm and at 7pm, he called to inform the receptionist that he’s gonna be late. So being a hungry ghost I was, I gobbled down a lonely dinner on my own at a coffeeshop nearby and walked a little around the interchange before heading back to the clinic again. I went back at 7.30pm since the receptionist told me that he would require another 20-30mins when it was at 7pm, but hell no… HE WAS STILL LATE!!! And there were other patients waiting too.

Nevertheless, he arrived in drenched uniform because it was raining damn heavily and he was thus caught in the traffic.

Okay, rants aside.

I’ve done up my top row of teeth with braces and now it looks like this :

The orthodontist mentioned that the current position of the braces is not the most ideal one but because I’ve overcrowding on the top set as well as a slight one on my bottom set (he didn’t mention this during the consultation previously and only informed me last night, which caught me by surprise because I’d always thought my bottom set was straight and looking good, which at least consoled me a little), and hence, he had to position them that way.

I didn’t extract any tooth for the braces to be done though.

The plan goes like this, to put up the braces for the top set to expand the upper jaw first, elastic bands to be placed at the sides of the mouth and then proceed to my bottom set for braces. But the 2nd and 3rd stage could be reversed depending on the progress. Will have to go back for a re-visitation 4 weeks from now at the end of the month.

I did make an informed decision since it’s gonna be a 2-year commitment and I do know that it’s not gonna guarantee a 100% success rate for my teeth to jump the bite. So I’m actually taking a gamble here.

But as mentioned in my previous post, the orthodontist did mention that I may stand a good chance in jumping the bite. Once that is achieved, it will perpetually remain that way since my top set would prevent my bottom set from overlapping it again. It’s somewhat ‘locked’ then.

I paid the deposit and will have to pay the installments as the months go by, without any interest charged. This is a brilliant policy since most people esp working adults, would be footing the bills themselves, sad people like me. 😦

So ask me if it’s painful?

I would only say that putting them on isn’t painful and on that day itself, it won’t hurt. Come the next morning which my orthodontist revealed, it would and it’s true. I’m feeling as if I’ve perpetual teeth ache and note the plurality won’t you?

Biting and chewing is thus difficult.

It’s not exactly a nightmarish pain but it does cause discomfort.

So I guess I’ll have to stuff myself with mashed potatoes or soft food again, which I’d struggled during the period I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted at one go, which you can read in this previous post of mine.

Payment-wise, I was charged $4.2k  which includes the regular visits and the braces, and I was advised to purchase a special tooth brush made for braces wearers, which costs $5. I was also told that come the day when my braces get removed, I would have to put on the retainers to keep them aligned and in ‘shape’ and this would cost $300 for both top and bottom set. So all in all, it costs about $4.5k excluding GST charges (which is not cheap either).

Oh and in case if you guys are wondering, due to my class III malocclusion, I’m not suitable to wear invisalign, which is usually for class I minor cases.

Well, although I guess it can go both way – good and bad.

Good – Save lots of $$$. I was quoted 7k for invisalign. Need not remove and put it back each time I have my meals.

Bad – Stuck with ugly looking metal braces for 2 years. I didn’t choose ceramics as well cause I’d thought it just makes no difference and you pay the extra $$ unnecessarily anyway.

Whatever the case is, now that I feel the pain, both physically and financially, it must mean that it’s all gonna be worth it right? 😉

Oh, and after putting the braces, my mouth and teeth naturally fixes itself edge to edge whenever I close my mouth. I guess it’s because of the foreign objects on my top teeth that my brain sends an auto signal to avoid touching and grinding it. And it’s also because I can position my teeth edge to edge that gave the doctor higher confidence to inform me of my possible high chances of jumping the bite, since there is space to adjust the jaw structure accordingly.

Food-wise, I was told to avoid sugary, fizzy drinks… to have my food cut into smaller pieces especially for hard food. To avoid sweets and gummy bears. Have no idea why the orthodontist specifically told me ‘gummy bears’. I think I’ve a ‘gummy bear eater’ face that’s why? Told bf about it and he laughed, lol. ;p But yes, I really love gummy bears! Or anything gummy like Haribo sweets too! 😀 Plus, it comes in super handy whenever I’m angry! I can just chew and bite and tear it in my mouth like nobody’s biz and vent all my anger, frustration and sadness all at once! Yes, I’m full of angst.

And having braces on just makes me feel like not eating (YAY CAN LOSE WEIGHT?!), not smiling and not talking at all.

So yes, I’m gonna be a skinny unfriendly quiet girl soon.

But anyways, ome 2 years down the road, I would be all prepared for my wedding shoots! Haha! Wishful thinking on my part :p

*praying hard* 🙂

Metal Teeth!

Finally…!!!

I have put my foot down on this.

My ugly looking teeth and jaw problems have been bothering almost all my life and I have decided to get them solved by wearing braces.

A month ago, I had all 4 of my wisdom teeth extracted out at one go. Yes, I know I’m brave and all, but after this experience, my advice is not to be so silly like me and extract all 4 at one go. Now I finally understand why most people extract 1 side at a time. Simple, reason being is so that you can chew your food on one side at least!

Molars are those that help chew your food while canines are those that help tear your food, especially meat apart. It’s very difficult and troublesome to place your food at the front teeth and chew using them, simply because they are not made to do that. Furthermore, you must take extra pre-caution when chewing with your front teeth for the fear of biting your own tongue in the process. Sounds silly, I know, but it’s all true.

So, as mentioned previously, I suffer from a underbite. Okay, not really a suffering, but it’s used more dramatically and more impactful, no?

My side profile is really like this when I close my mouth and have my teeth bit down together.

Side profile with my underbite. I know it’s damn ugly! 😦
And how I loathe my flat button nose! 😦

I have a Class III jaw malocclusion. which in my opinion, is the most serious out of the 3 classes. Mine being the 3rd class, which must mean it’s the most severe right?

I must say that my decision to put on braces is somewhat flimsy because only a jaw surgery also known as orthognathic surgery/treatment will provide a 100% success rate in solving my jaw structural problems, but with braces, it may or may not, depending on my luck.

As shown above, beside having a Class III jaw malocclusion and an underbite, my top set of teeth faces overcrowding problems. My canines are very distinct. So hopefully with braces on, would help me straighten them out.

But to solve the problem of underbite, I would need to jump the bite so that the top set would be covering over the bottom row as with any other normal looking set of teeth.

I have been very very very bothered by my jaw problems and crooked teeth and very ashamed to smile or laugh with teeth shown. That is also the reason why I usually don’t smile often and in almost all my pictures, you would see I will be smiling with my lips tightly sealed together. Unless you caught me on candid laughing away (which I would kill you if I’d ever find out!), 99.9999% of my pictures will only capture my weak smile.

My visit to the dentist at Q&M Dental Surgery (Bedok Central), yes the one where I extracted my wisdom teeth, assisted in my decision in getting my braces done.

Side profile when my teeth are placed edge to edge. It’s so much better than the one with underbite and hopefully when I’ve managed to jump the bite, my side profile would be much better!

As you can see, my bottom row is quite straight…
And sorry if my pictures scare the hell outta you, but that’s precisely why I’ve decided to fix these ugly teeth right? LOL

I was told that because I could position my teeth edge to edge, which is the maximum my jaw could go, I stand a high chance jumping the bite without undergoing any surgical treatments. I was and still very adamant in NOT seeking surgical treatments for firstly, it costs a WHOOPING 5 DIGIT sum. I was quoted 30k for that previously by another orthodontist. Do note that dentists/orthodontists do not perform the surgery but only qualified surgeons from hospital do so.

A jaw surgery is just like any other surgery, having to lie on the operating theatre and to face aftermath risks.

Secondly, you will have to be hospitalised for about 5 days.

Thirdly, the recovery time take approx 3 months or more. There would be obvious swelling on the whole face. This would also mean to cause much inconvenience to my personal life and work life.

Just take a look at these pictures.

Not sure about you, but by just looking at these pictures already gives me the creeps and I am sub-consciously feeling nauseous. 😦

So yep, no jaw surgery for me.

Though I am a little skeptical that the ‘high chances’ cajoled by the dentist seems more like a sales gimmick and hard selling, I am still getting my hopes up. My cynicism was further aggravated when I told the dentist that I had to consider first before committing, which his face and attitude had a sudden change. I know I was going to do the braces but I wanted to inform my parents and bf first and to schedule a more appropriate timing to wear them. Bf advised to get them done after Christmas in Jan 2013 so that I could enjoy good food with him. Aww, sweet thing you ❤ :’)

Initially, I wanted to get them done asap and almost scheduled for tomorrow’s appointment. Knowing myself best, my past experiences with my impulsiveness didn’t get me very far and often, I regret doing things due to my impulsiveness. Most people who knows me will know that I am quite a kan chiong spider.

By the way, the dentist told me that I need not get any extractions done prior to the braces treatment although my top set of teeth faces overcrowding problems. That’s because he mentioned that my canines are situated at the right places and positions. Not too sure about that.

The only thing I dread is not so much of the pain, but the adjustment in my diet I have to make which reminds me of the nightmares I had after I had my wisdom teeth extracted. Although not a foodie, I now understand the pain one has to go through when you can’t eat normally, don’t even mention about yummy good food! 😦 Eating was a chore and will be again after I put on the braces.

The dentist briefed that he would be putting on the braces for the top set first to expand the upper jaw and followed by the lower set. I would also need to tie on elastic bands at the sides so as to modify my jaw structure in hoping to push back my lower jaw and bring my upper jaw forward.

For those who wonder why isn’t invisalign in my wishlist was because I was told that I cannot wear them due to my underbite. Not sure how true is that but since metal braces is so much cheaper and I’m footing the bill myself, I should be happy right?  I was quoted 7k as the starting price for invisalign.

I doubt I will be getting the ceramic ones since it would cost 1k more. Metal braces for my case starts at 4.2k, which is not inclusive of the $300 retainers which you would have to wear for the rest of your life ($150 each for top and bottom row of teeth) as well as excluding GST charges.

Of course, prior to getting your braces done, you will be required to undergo some X-rays. Initially I’d thought that I could skip this step since I had mine done prior to my wisdom teeth extractions, but I was told that they required other profiles and views of my teeth as well as jaw structure. Ugh.

Also, you will be required to make up a clay model of your teeth to see the positions of your teeth before braces treatment.

I paid $400+ for 2 X-rays, cleaning of teeth, teeth moulds, consultation.. as far as I could remember. Previously spent $500+ on my wisdom teeth extractions and now another $400 less in my bank account. Don’t even mention about the braces $$$. ARGH.

The good thing is Q&M allows instalments to be paid. A deposit of a lump sum, which the dentist insisted that 1/2 of $4.2k is advised but the nurse mentioned that any amount $1-2k is possible. Thereafter, a $150 instalment per month is to be paid. I think they are rather flexible about this so you can make adjustments according to your own financial status. There are other dental clinics which offer such services as well and one of them is iDental.

So come 2nd Jan onwards, I will be having metal teeth! I do hope that it’s not too late…

I’m hoping to achieve that million dollar smile… I’m not as lucky as those who still shine like a star despite having an underbite!

Anyway, met up with my bestie yesterday for dinner and we had Charly T’s at I12 Katong, but the food sucked and cashier service was rather slow. Didn’t enjoy the food there and being a glutton, I had mac fries thereafter! 😀

Verdict : NOT WORTH IT. 😦

Veg was ok, a little bland. Mac & Cheese wasn’t nice. Butter rice was still ok but overall, I liked the chicken best. Oh yes, iced lemon tea sucked too 😦
