I chatted with the Aida, the lady boss of Nail Room @ One Six throughout my manicure and pedicure session who was extremely warm and friendly, and we clicked very well 🙂

As it was during the Chinese New Year Period, I opted for red but yet not wanting to look overly ‘cheena’ and ‘auntie-ish’.

So I chose this design for my manicure:

Manicure and Pedicure with Beary-Nice Nails

Sponsored Advertorial

I was smitten with my previous set of cute nails embellished with loads of sweet cakes and ice creams which surprised me that they could stay on for such a long time!

I headed down to Beary-Nice Nails again to have my nails repainted, redesigned and basically, to be pampered again 🙂

bearynails

I decided to opt for normal nail polishes as my nails were extremely brittle and thin caused by both genetics and constant painting of nails, especially with gel nail polishes.

After removing my gelish nails, removing cuticles, buffing and filing…

And went from this :

Cute Cupcake Nails and Leopard Prints Nails with Beary-Nice Nails!

Sponsored Advertorial

bearynails

Hello girls!

I’ve something exciting to share with you babes! And only because it’s beneficial, hence the excitement! 😀

If you are looking for cozy nail salons with excellent customer service, then Beary-nice nails is definitely the place to patronise and get you pretty nails done in a jiffy!

Honestly speaking, I was a little taken aback when I was welcomed with super friendly faces and smiles when I first entered the nail salon. Simply put, I was treated like an old friend by the manicurists at Beary-nice nails! The girls are extremely friendly and because of that, I felt at home and genuinely welcomed.

Their meticulous skills and their genuine interest in serving customers won me over. I have never encountered such warm and affectionate manicurists before. I am not only saying this because of the sponsorship, I am very certain I would blog the same if I were a paid customer because I have seen how they have handled other customers the same friendly manner as well.

Don’t believe? Head down to their shop and just try and inquire on their services and rates (no harm trying), you will be surprised how friendly they are! That I can guarantee you! 😉

On top of that, I have always been an indecisive customer when it comes to choosing nail art designs. Because I dress as per my mood, sometimes I’m looking girly but other days, I’m in the mood for a little ‘rock-and-roll’ kind of style, so it’s difficult to cater to both ends. But the girls were extremely patient 🙂

But nevertheless, I settled with these cupcake designs because it’s one of the trendiest design for nail art now, all because of the cupcake craze!

I try to avoid 3D nail art because I’m not exactly that demure and most of the time, they drop off easily. You know how ugly your nails will look once the embellishments are off, leaving unsightly ‘dents’ on your nail beds. I’m quite a perfectionist so once the nails, even if one nail is ruined, my mood is ruined and I don’t regard my nails to be perfect and able to attract compliments anymore. (I know, I’m usually quite hard on myself).

But the lady boss (Cecilia) of Beary-nice nails assured me the quality of the 3D nail art by applying layers and layers of top coats and acrylic powder, getting them to be cured by the gelish harmony LED lamp countless times so as to prevent them from dropping off.

Both Cecilia and Joanne were extremely patient and meticulous throughout the whole process and all because they want the best for their customers! 🙂
You know how some manicurists do a ‘shitty’ job, rushing their work through and not offering tip-top quality results? And then your nail embellishments drop off few days later? I know how extremely frustrating it is!

I’m sure this won’t happen with Beary-nice nails, they won’t scrimp and save on their materials just so they can ‘save’ a little bit more.

I was also given a good scrub on my feet to remove dead skin afterwhich my skin felt really soft and supple after that! 🙂

Now… pictures of my pretty nails! 🙂

Psst, FYI, all designs were hand-drawn except for the 3D embellishments! How cool is that! It takes a set of meticulous skills and patience to achieve such pretty nails!

So if you are on the lookout for recommendable nail salons, do drop by Beary-nice nails!

Beauty Review – China Glaze Neon Nail Polishes

In preparation for  an upcoming wedding this Saturday with a Candy Lane theme, I had to let my creativity juices flow. However, due to the limited ‘candy’ colours available in my nail polish collection, I chose these 2 neon colours from China Glaze.

I must now eat back my words that mixing normal and gelish nail polishes is now a BIG NONO for me. I realised that they don’t last! Although it’s actually mostly the nail polishes on my pointer fingernails get chip off. Was advised by my colleague who works as a PT manicurist that I shouldn’t be mixing them both, but heck, I did, and many times and the rest of the fingers were rather durable! The only annoying thing is that, once the nail polishes chip or peel off on my pointers, they do so constantly! Can you imagine having to repaint, cure, repaint, cure, repaint, cure…? And this repetitive process is only to paint 1 nail completely. Times the number of times the nail polish peels/chips… And especially annoying when you have a function/event to attend, then they get ruin just before or during the event. Ugly nails, shouldn’t even exist!

Bought some China Glaze nail polishes from Qoo10.

More lumps..:(

Photo 13-06-2013 01 25 11 PM

Closer look.

*I must admit I do have shaky hand by the way.

After posting a picture of my NOTD, my ex-classmate and I discussed a little over FB. And in conclusion, China Glaze Neon nail polishes are :

  • Clumpy
  • Dries out too fast which creates lumps and thick layers
  • Too runny

Seche Restore’s review was also discussed.

  • It didn’t work for my CG Snow Globe. It remains lumpy.
  • Was told that it should only be used on normal nail polishes than gelish.

So all in all, I think CG nail polishes are quite sucky now, especially if you have left them untouched for awhile. Upsetting, because I’ve been buying them as they are relatively cheaper.

Gelish nail polishes aren’t cheap and cheap ones might not be good (and they might be fakes).

Flip Flop’s quality was worse than Pool Party’s.

Am gonna think twice before getting anymore CG nail polishes in the future :(

DIY gelish nails x normal nail polishes

YES! You’ve read it right! I’ve attempted to go all full force by experimenting using normal nail polishes and mixing it with gelish nail polishes (base and top coats).

I’ve always wanted to try using normal nail polishes as the base colour because gelish nail polishes are DAMN EXPENSIVE!!! It costs about $20 per bottle vs $8 (china glaze from DYON international – Cineleisure Scape)! I bought my 1st gelish nail polishes, top and base coats from gelish harmony from DYON as well 🙂

I’ve to first disclaim that the results might not turn out as pretty as gelish nail polishes or durable for that matter. But keep my fingers crossed anyhoo.

Here are the products and tools that were used.

Photo 26-05-2013 10 33 42 PM

Now, don’t say that I’ve not been sharing awesome deals (if you’ve been reading my blog, you would know I DO share great buys with honest reviews (not sponsored)).

Base coat, Top Coat and China glaze were bought from DYON International from Cineleisure Scape. I’ve even linked their Facebook page for you 🙂 How can you not love me eh? I’ve been getting most of my OPI and China Glaze nail polishes from them. China Glaze are going for 3 for $20! How can you resist?! Well, I couldn’t. So I’ve quite a handful of them lying around, which I thought might not work with gelish nail polishes or curing with UV/LED lamp.

But tadah! IT WORKS!

Laquee Rette Blue Purple Glitter were from Qoo10 – lovely.desiires

Cute Ribbon LED Lamp (18Watts) and Gelish Harmony Nail Surface Cleanse from Qoo10 – Crystalife

You can actually replace the Nail Surface Cleanse with lint wipes as well 🙂

How do you go about DIY-ing your own gelish nails?

I’ve actually blogged a detailed entry on this before, so please read here if you are keen 🙂 It’s actually not that difficult, except if you have to remove your previous gelish nails on your own (which I’ve also included a step-by-step in that tutorial post) and if you have shaky/retarded left hand like mine. Other than that, it’s pretty simple and hassle-free with LED lamps!

Here’s the final result!

Photo 26-05-2013 10 26 44 PM Photo 26-05-2013 10 26 20 PM Photo 26-05-2013 10 28 01 PM

A thousand apologies for the poor reso and lighting. The picture doesn’t do justice for the colours. I mean it’s not 100% salon-standard quality, but it’s still acceptable and pretty for a DIY attempt! I shouldn’t be so hard on myself… HAHA!

The purple base colour is actually much lighter than you see in the pictures.

I love how both purple base and glitter colours have a tinge of blue undertones and slight shimmery sheen! Both colour combinations kinda reminds me of fairytale pixie magical dust… you know what I mean.

Googled some images on the China Glaze Tantalise me so you actually have a clearer view on the colour.

A little short review on the products and sellers.

lovely.desiires : Spillage in 1 of the 3 bottles I bought. Delivery was long as items were mailed from HongKong. Took abt 2 weeks. Seller’s customer service was acceptable. Nail polishes were cheap compared to other brands such as Gelish Harmony. Honestly, I do not think the brand matters as well as the product works well for you and proves its worth. So far, the 3 Laquee Rette glitter UV/gel nail polishes worked well for me 🙂 But I can’t be 100% sure if its authentic? Nevermind that, like I’ve said, as long as it works well for me, I don’t mind if it’s non-authentic or an inferior brand.

Crystalife : One of my favourite sellers on Qoo10! Her customer service is superb! Replies very promptly. Her items have proved their worth thus far. Bought the LED lamp, nail cleanse and acetone. She sells gelish nail polishes with brands such as Gelish Harmony and Artistic too (20$ ++) and other nail art tools.

DYON International : maintains sales both online on their FB page as well as retail flea market booth at Scape. Takes some time to reply queries via FB and some queries were left unanswered and ignored. But staff at the booth was alright. Prices for China Glaze and OPI were quite cheap. Gelish Harmony polishes were market price. Bought a better base coat for strengthening my soft brittle nails at 30$++ but didn’t prove its worth, but gotta continue using it, no choice.

So yes, I hope these reviews were of some help to you. Like I’ve always said, sharing is caring. 🙂

And yes, in conclusion, YOU CAN MIX NORMAL NAIL POLISHES WITH GELISH NAIL POLISHES in this sequence (apply gelish base coat – cure it under UV/LED lamp – apply normal nail polish (I applied 2 coats) – cure it under the lamp (IT ACTUALLY WORKS! HAHA!) – apply additional glitter/nail designs (optional) – cure it under the lamp – apply top coat (u can apply 2 coats – cure it under lamp – wipe with nail surface cleanse/lint wipes)

Just hope this combination lasts though 😉

HAVE FUN GIRLS! 😀

Braces, Geo contact lens + LED lamp for Gelish manicure and pedicure!

It’s MID-WEEK! Hoorays! But this week’s gonna be a short one due to the public holiday this coming Fri! 🙂

Anyway, I’ll be dropping by Q&M toight for my monthly dental visit and I’ve done up another comparison thus far.

Not much difference though and I’m kinda disappointed because I don’t see anymore movements. But maybe the inner teeth have moved because I did feel some tightness here and there throughout March. Also because I’ve still not been able to ‘jump’ the bite yet and most of the times when I wake up, I find myself clenching my teeth (perhaps I was angry during my sleep?!) and the position of my teeth is still an underbite alignment. 😦

Nevertheless, the comparison thus far :

For March

braces march

For Jan, Feb and March

braces

There’s nothing much to cheer about except for the fact that my top row is much straighter now as compared to the past before putting on the braces.

Sigh, I really hope I will be able to ‘jump’ the bite soon. I still can’t smile properly showing my teeth.

This is the best I can do without looking retarded.

Photo 10-03-2013 12 05 34 AM

Photo 10-03-2013 12 03 51 AM

Don’t laugh okay?

I guess these are the only two pictures you will see with me smiling with teeth shown, unless you caught me on candid camera which I’m very sure I will look like a dork and I would kill you for that.

By the way, smiling like this makes me even more self-conscious of not only my smile/teeth, but also my chin, nose and cheeks.

I have an indent face. My face is really skinny and my jaw-line is extremely defined.

Actually, I don’t have cheeks at all.

Apple cheeks are cute. Long pointy indented cheeks make you look like an old hag and even more haggard looking than your real age.

I used to be RREEALLL fat before puberty but lost them all after reaching puberty, combined with vigorous exercise. I started learning Taekwondo at the age of 10 and achieved my 1st black belt dan at 14. But with my current age and body condition now, I doubt I can be as robust as before.

Okay, nvm, so back to the cheeks.

Seen some improvements on QiuQiu’s blog and facebook on her fat-grafting of the face and really tempts me. But I don’t wish to look like a swollen pig head.

Another thing is, my nose looks stubby and I hate my protruding chin due to my underbite and skeletal structure.

I just hate my side profile. :(((

By the way, the 2 pictures above took me some time to capture them, despite still being imperfect. The rest were just plain dorky and I had a hard time trying to position my mouth, chin and teeth altogether to create this ‘somewhat-near-perfect-smile’.

So far so good! They are comfortable to wear but inevitably and occasionally, they would dry out if I stare at my phone (most of the times concentrating hard on Candy Crushing!) for too long. Try blinking or look far after that, or just carry along eye drops with you 🙂

This is normal and happens with any and every contact lens you wear. Even if I wear contact lenses from optical shops such as Fresh Kon and Maxi lens, my eyes dry out easily too! Furthermore, if you’ve read my previous review on these 2 optical brands, you would know that they suck! >=[

By the way, the lady boss of GEO CONTACT LENS, Kimmy is extremely friendly and helpful! She would go the extra mile to clear your doubts and explain whatever is required. 🙂

So go check out those pretty lenses at GEO CONTACT LENS now!!! 😀

I bought some stuffs from Gmarket (still prefer calling them this than Qoo10) :

Photo 27-03-2013 08 41 54 AM

Photo 27-03-2013 08 45 07 AM

I bought the LED lamp (18watts) for 169$ and I am super duper pleased with this seller on Gmarket! This is my 2nd purchase from her. Previously gotten a bottle of Acetone at 10$ for self-removal of gelish nails!

Her replies are very prompt and very helpful and most importantly, she delivers her items very promptly! I made the order last Sunday 24th and received the item yesterday on the 26th! How fast a delivery could that be???
She even sent a free gift as per above – Cuticle cutter.

Because good things must be shared and sharing is caring (that’s the whole point of my blog), so here goes :

LED Lamp

Gelish Cleanser

Crystalife (Seller)

If you have been following my blog, you would know that I have been using the lousy UV Lamp with 36 watts, which does not cure gelish nail polishes well and takes a longer time to do so. I am still thinking if I should sell it as 2nd hand or keep it to cure my pedicure when I’m doing my manicure.

But if anyone’s interested, do let me know and I will take into consideration of selling it cheap at a low price! It’s rarely being used, honestly.

I would do up a comparison between UV lamp and a LED lamp soon when time permits. Artistic (300-400$++)and Gelish Harmony (500-600$$++) LED Lamps are just WAAAYYY TOOOOO EXPENSIVE!!!

But I’ve to let you know that it’s working, has automated sensor of 30sec and it’s EXTREMELY IRRESISTIBLY ADORABLE!!!

The time will depend on how thick each layer applied.

Foundation base – 10 to 30sec
Gelish color – 30sec to 45sec
Top-if-off – 20-30sec

But I don’t think I will be reviewing this cute ribbon LED lamp anytime soon since I’ve just gotten my manicure and pedicure done last week for a wedding last Sunday at Fingertip Nail Care 🙂

I know I have the world’s ugliest toes. :(((

But I know many of you can’t resist the cuteness of this LED Lamp, do stay tuned for my reviews okay? 🙂

Also because there aren’t any reviews online so far for this LED lamp (I can’t find any!) and no reviews available on Gmarket as well, except for mine. LOL!

Love y’all! 🙂
