[Beauty] K-Palette 1-Day Tattoo K-Palette 24h 1-Day Tattoo Real Lasting Eyeliner Micro (0.05mm)

Eyeliners have become part of the daily essential make-up routine for many girls, including myself. Whether you are going for the ‘minimalistic look’ or donning the ‘drama-mama look’, lining your eyes can be very important as it helps to define and enhance your eyes.

They say your eyes are the windows to your soul, that is why I hardly leave home without applying eyeliner, even when I’m going for the au naturale look. Guess you would pretty much catch me without lining my eyes only when I’m exercising.

Besides using Bourjois eyeliner, my other holy grail eyeliner has got to be K-Palette’s 1-Day Tattoo eyeliners.

K-Palette has very generously offered me the opportunity to try out their 1-Day Makeup series which I would be reviewing 1 of the products today.

When I first saw this eyeliner, I was overjoyed because finally, I can perfect my cat-eyed look, or also known ask winged eyeliner because it has very very thin and narrow tip of only 0.05mm! I have written an article on ‘How to get that perfect flick of a cat’s eye’ which I’m sure many of you girls would find it interesting and useful, especially if you are a beginner.

Look at how thin the line is drawn with just one stroke!

A mandatory before-after comparison :

kpaletteyeliner

On days when I’m feeling lazy or need not put on mascara or fake eyelashes, a stroke of eyeliner is all I need. With that, I am still able to look pretty decent. 🙂

K-Palette 24h 1-Day Tattoo Real Lasting Eyeliner Micro

  • Instant-dry formula to prevent smudging
  • Narrow tip to perfect that cat-eye look
  • Long-lasting that does not require touching up the entire day
  • Improved waterproof formula which is resistant not only to water but to perspiration and sebum as well – good for those with oily eyelids
  • Easily removed using warm water instead of make up remover which helps to avoid straining the delicate skin around your eyes
  • 3 types of beauty essence added in the improved formula – Hyaluronic Acid, Swertia Japonica Essence and Water Soluable Collagen which helps to moisturise the skin around the eyes and also promote lash growth

My review :

  • I still use my Biore Cleansing Oil Cotton Facial Sheets to remove the eyeliner since I use it to remove my whole makeup too. No problem faced while removing the eyeliner
  • It does last me throughout the day without having the need to touch up
  • It is definitely more useful in drawing winged eyeliners than other eyeliners with thicker tips
  • Perfect for days when I prefer to go for a more natural look without thick eyeliner or dramatic look, for example, on working days

Overall rating :

5 stars

K-Palette 24h 1-Day Tattoo Real Lasting Eyeliner Micro is available at Watsons and BHG stores, retailing at $21.90.

Now some post-event and contest thoughts…

Despite having won the Voting Contest which only contributes 30% to the final results, I knew I couldn’t emerge as the Winner because there were just so many strong competitors and these other contestants did an awesome job as well! In fact, I was honestly struggling with the hair stylers and I know NUTS about vlogs. We were not required to do vlogs but I thought that videos are way better for beauty tutorials compared to photos and words only. That was something I learnt in my experience in this Blog award. I know some of you guys are gonna laugh at me, saying that I’m silly, because shouldn’t that be a known fact?

Hmm, but I guess one wouldn’t really understand the difference and importance until one really experienced it for him/herself right? ;P

Anyhoo, judging on their blog posts, one can easily see how much time and effort every finalist blogger has put in for this Singapore Blog Awards Contest.

It was really no easy feat but I’m glad I didn’t allow the difficulties and tall orders to get the better of me, and that I persevered and didn’t give up! All thanks to everyone’s support and encouragement as well 🙂

This Singapore Blog Award contest has taught me several valuable skills which I have documented here. Perhaps fellow bloggers may also find these useful.

1. As mentioned, tutorials (be it beauty or not) are really easier to view by readers via videos as compared to photos and words. This is especially so if you need to teach them how to use a certain beauty tool or how to draw your eyeliners/apply eye shadows. It is sometimes difficult to put everything down in words and videos would do the trick 😉

2. This voting contest allowed me to understand better of my ‘true’ friends. Of course, this may come across as superficial and it doesn’t completely mean that those who voted (say maybe once/twice) are my ‘truest’ friends who will place me as priority before themselves…of course I am exaggerating. But you know what I mean right? What I am saying is that those who made real effort to rally for votes such as my bf, my sister and my family who conscientiously voted for me even when they were away overseas. They never stopped thinking of me. And of course to friends and even virtual ‘friends’ who did not mind me spamming them with thick-skinned messages to rally for votes. Those who have done so were those I am shocked of who they are, as in, we are not super duper close but I am really very touched that they would go the extra mile to remember to vote for me, on their own accord that is.

On the contrary, there were some friends whom I thought would well, vote for me almost every day (because making it a daily affair may seem oh-so-very-demanding…), actually did not…but I can’t tell for sure because I know there are some who voted but without telling me or replying to my messages.

And because voters are required to fill in their identification numbers, I guess that scared the shit outta some people…which I found it quite ridiculous. I mean, isn’t this the same as lucky draws? The purpose of the requirement of identification card number is not to invade your privacy although technically, it is..But apart from that far-fetched notion, it is actually for authentication and verification purpose as well as eh, to identify the winners for the lucky draw…?

There was actually an ex-classmate whom I wasn’t very close to but we have never stepped on each others’ tails (at least based on my perspective) and whose response totally shock me.

I know the prizes aren’t fantastic to some of you but I thought it’s all about helping a friend? Or at least, I thought I’m one.

Apart from having difficulty to vote, which was actually quite a simple procedure, she eventually told me “I’m not keen in the prizes.” This was after I explained to her the purpose of the requirement of the IC number..

Sigh, oh wells. Totally lost for words.

3. To be honest, I hesistated to hold giveaways to rally for votes as well as ‘likes’ for my page because it seems kinda unethical? Some may even view it to be the same as ‘buying votes’? But because I thought, since the sponsor is also giving away prizes which is very common in most lucky draw contests, I went ahead with it.

The response I must say is quite good, but that fantastic though and it did deliver some results…however, I have to make things clear that the votes of these giveaway participants were of the minority. I still relied on my family and friends for the votes.

I hesitated initially for the fear of wagging-tongues and true enough, another fellow blogger did bring a few incidents to my attention because she was gotten involved as well.

We were said to ‘buy votes’ using freebies which made us seem very despicable and unethical…and after complaining that on the social media platform, the very same person who complained also started her own giveaway to rally for votes.

Sigh, I really don’t know what to say about this…seriously.

What I learnt from this is to be careful with every action you take, especially if you are under the scrutiny of the public’s eyes…of course, it’s not that I have zero knowledge about this prior to this incident, but just that I feel the impact now after experiencing it personally.

Also, why don’t people practise what they preach?

4. Family and true friends are always the best. Need I say more?

5. Never give up. As cliche as it may sound but it is really true. I’m the kind of likes taking on challenges and truth be told, I was so frustrated with the hair styler and for a 7-min video, I took around 5h to edit it. The editing process is much worse than photo editing I must say. You will need to ensure that there are no glitch in the whole video and that it plays on smoothly throughout. Not forgetting the narration portion. I know you can actually speak to the video recorder during the video but for those who can’t multi-task especially when your hands are full and you need to concentrate on whatever you are doing (e.g. not burning yourself with the hair styler) or for those who are afraid of stuttering in front of a video camera, you can actually narrate separately and insert the voice records at any time of the video as you prefer.

For those who don’t know, I started off blogging to share with like-minded ladies who, like me, prefer reading reviews before purchasing stuffs, in particular, beauty stuffs. So I’d thought, why not share my own personal reviews with everyone else?

One thing led to another, and very soon I found myself blogging about lifestyle topics, food reviews and even sharing tips on keeping fit and losing/maintaining weight, although I am no health and fitness guru. Neither am I any professional in beauty stuffs compared to many other fabulous beauty bloggers are out there, whose passion is really applauding

Once again, thank you everyone for your generous and kind support for conscientiously voting and rooting for me! I really really appreciate it.

And I know this blogging journey has only just begun with even more exciting activities lined up ahead!  😀

[Beauty Tools Part 3] My Everyday Look – Make Up and Panasonic Multi-Styling Straightener EH-HW58-K

Hi girls!

Today I will be sharing with you a comprehensive step-by-step for my ‘everyday look’ which involves minimal make-up as well as styling my hair using the Panasonic Multi-Styling Straightener EH-HW58-K.

Photo 30-7-14 4 44 19 pm

Don’t we all look like this when we wake up first thing in the morning?

Dull oily skin with messy hair?

Let me show you how to achieve a presentable look, with nothing too much or little and yet still look gorgeous in a short period of time! 🙂

These are the make-up stuffs which I used.

Photo 30-7-14 5 34 05 pm

This includes of the following :-

1. Chanel Foundation Compact Powder Vitalumiere Eclat

2. Silkygirl Shimmer Duo Blusher

3. Etude House Face Highlight

4. Canmake Highlighter

5. Missha Under-eye Concealer

6. Makeon Brown Shimmer Eyeliner

5. Shimmer White Eyeliner

6. Bourjois Ultra Black Liquid Eyeliner

7. Bourjois Brown Eyebrown Pencil

8. theBalm Bronzer

9. 2 Brushes – 1 for contouring and 1 for applying blusher

First after bathing and cleansing your face thoroughly after a night’s sleep, ensure your hands are clean before wearing your contacts.

Photo 30-7-14 4 52 08 pm

I opt for a more natural looking design with enlarging the pupil effect.

Starting out with my bare face with just my contact lens on.

Photo 30-7-14 4 53 36 pm

Applying sunblock before makeup is a MUST and I’m currently using Biore UV Bright Face Milk [Pink] Sunblock with an SPF of 50++.

sunblock

Then I start applying the Chanel Compact Powder. Remember to apply it downwards as you do not want to clog your pores. Only apply upwards for substances that contains nutrients such as moisturiser and essence.

Photo 30-7-14 4 56 55 pm

Next, line your eye thinly.

Photo 30-7-14 4 59 36 pm

Photo 30-7-14 5 00 07 pm

Then draw your eyebrows.

Photo 30-7-14 5 05 04 pm

Photo 30-7-14 5 05 58 pm

Hehe, I know my eyebrows need some trimming…and recently I have hopped onto the ulzzang look for eyebrows!

And then conceal your dark circles and blemishes.

Photo 30-7-14 5 07 45 pm

Use a brown eyeliner to line your below your eyes and join them to the upper eyeliner on the sides.

And then stick on fake eyelashes.

Now this is optional, you may opt for a more simple look without putting on fake eyelashes or may prefer applying mascara for a more natural look, which I have blogged about in my previous blog post.

Photo 30-7-14 5 21 43 pm

Contour your nose if you prefer.

Photo 30-7-14 5 22 22 pm

Blend it well and apply highlighter on your forehead, nose bridge, undereyes, chin as well as on your laugh lines.

Photo 30-7-14 5 24 08 pm

Draw the inner eye corners with the shimmery white eyeliner for the innocent doe-eyed look as well as ‘open’ up your eyes, resulting in livelier eyes!

Photo 30-7-14 5 26 09 pm

Apply blusher.

Photo 30-7-14 5 27 12 pm

You may apply outwards and upwards for a slimmer looking face or apply it at the bottom of your cheekbones.

For the hair, I straightened my hair using the Panasonic Multi-Styling Straightener EH-HW58-K which generously offers a 6-in-1 styling hair designs.

Using the same method in my video tutorial and steps mentioned in my previous blog post using the Nano Straightener, slide it down straight instead of curling. This should be much easier than curling.

And…TADAH!

What does it mean to be a beauty blogger?

Anyone can be a blogger these days but being a ‘power blogger? That is a totally different issue. Being a beauty blogger is one who shares beauty tips and reviews with the readers, who are substantially females. However, that is not to say that men aren’t welcomed either since there is now a growing trend and demand by men on beauty and aesthetic services. This is understandable because everyone wants to look their best! 🙂

To be honest, I was on the verge of giving up on this ‘Best Beauty Blog’ contest because I had ZERO knowledge and experience in creating videos and editing them, as well as ZERO hands-on experience using the hair stylers. I was actually one of the few who was struggling using the styler, even during the Beauty Workshop with Panasonic Singapore. Also, you could see that I still struggled my way through in my video tutorial on using the Panasonic EH-HS95-K Nanocare Straightener. However, I did not edit those ‘NG’ (‘Not Good’) parts because I believe in putting an honest front and moreover, I am not a professional make-up or hair stylist and started off knowing zilch to creating the full works!

I pressed on not only because I love challenges but also because of the encouragements given by my family and friends. For that, I deeply appreciate it. 🙂

Because of this contest, I have learnt so much within such a short period of time.

This includes creating videos which I have been wanting to do for the longest time and now, I can start creating more vlogs! Vlogs are more useful for beauty bloggers in a way because processes of using beauty tools can be more accurately and clearly portrayed compared to using only pictures, which can be a hassle to snap at every stage. My ‘Everyday Makeup Look’ had only pictures instead of videos because I am down with a sore throat and cough. Even during the video tutorial on ‘How to put on fake eyelashes fast’, I was sick and had to suppress my cough which occurs every 10 mins or so. It was tough, I must admit. Till now, I am still suffering from a bad sore throat and cough 😦

Apart from these skills, I had also learnt and understood better issues such as the importance of networking, those who would conscientiously root and vote for you and those who aren’t that willing to do so, and also how to use the hair beauty tools which I made the effort to watch countless of videos.

I am thankful for this opportunity for being one of the finalists for ‘Best Beauty Blog’ and special thanks go out to Panasonic Singapore and OMY.sg in organising this Singapore Blog Awards. Of course, not forgetting to my voters and Facebook fans as well. ❤ 😀

[Beauty Tools Part 1] Beauty Tools to Achieve Fluttery Eyelashes!

After you have watched my video tutorial on how to style your hair using the the Panasonic EH-HS95-K Nanocare Straightener,  are you wondering what other beauty tools that I cannot live without?

Well, here is the list of beauty tools that I use to pamper and beautify myself : )

1. Eyelash curler

Photo 29-7-14 11 30 15 pm

It is every girl’s dream to have fluttery eyelashes that mesmerise, including me. I am currently using the Brigitte Eyelash Curler which I use for both my real natural eyelashes as well as for fake eyelashes.

I have also made a comparison between Panasonic Heated Eyelash Curler EH-SE60 below for you to better understand the differences between a normal eyelash curler and a heated one.

Photo 29-7-14 8 14 39 pm

2. Electric eyelash curler

Photo 29-7-14 11 33 43 pm
Front packaging of the box
Photo 29-7-14 11 33 58 pm
A comprehensive step-by-step tutorial which is easy to follow is provided at the back of the packaging box
Photo 29-7-14 11 32 33 pm
Comes with the eyelash curler and cleaning brush
Photo 29-7-14 11 31 40 pm
A battery-operated heated eyelash curler

Now, I am sure many of you are curious as to the differences between a heated eyelash curler and a normal eyelash curler, am I right? Well, I was equally curious too so I experimented on my eyelashes which would provide the most accurate illustration.

Do take note that this heated curler may also be used on fake eyelashes!

Photo 29-7-14 8 22 48 pm

Both seem to do a pretty decent job in curling the lashes. However, I must first disclaim that my eyelash on my left (which is the one that the heated eyelash curler was used) is shorter and more sparse than those on my right. Don’t ask me why, I have no idea too.

Next, what are curled eyelashes without the help of mascara? As with most Asians, we are not blessed with thick and long eyelashes compared to other races, but fret not! Mascara is the key!

I am using the L’Oreal – False Lash Architect 4D Fibre Effect Mascara which is my current favourite now and I consider it to be my Holy Grail 🙂

And because like I have said, I have short and sparse eyelashes, I have been trying to achieve longer and thicker eyelashes with the help of DHC Eyelash Tonic.

Photo 29-7-14 11 20 09 pm

I must say that it really does help growing my eyelashes out 🙂

It is also recommended to be applied before applying mascara so that you still can to nourish your eyelashes even while wearing mascara on and I like to think of it like a ‘primer’ before make-up kind of thing.

However, this is where the problem steps in. 😦

You can see that after curling my eyelashes and applying a layer of DHC Eyelash Tonic, it weighs the eyelashes down, causing it not to be as curled up as before.

Photo 29-7-14 8 26 23 pm

If you are thinking that this isn’t a big issue because you can just curl it again, then you are wrong!

You should never curl your eyelashes after applying eyelash tonic or mascara. This is because after applying these chemicals onto your eyelashes, they become more vulnerable and even more brittle. Hence, if you were to apply pressure on them, they would break and drop easily. Certainly not what I desire for.

Photo 29-7-14 8 29 17 pm

However, compared to the other eye which I used the heated eyelash curler, after applying the eyelash tonic, I could still curl the eyelashes up without apply much pressure on them.

Photo 29-7-14 8 33 10 pm

And this is how it looks like after applying mascara.

Photo 29-7-14 8 35 53 pm

A full comparison of both eyelashes :

Photo 29-7-14 8 35 38 pm

So which would you choose?

I reckon the answer is quite obvious 😉

3. Fake eyelash + glue

Putting on mascara can be a hassle especially if your mascara results in clumping and removing them is such a hassle!

But fret not, because fake eyelashes are here to rescue!

Many girls rely heavily on them to create fluttery eyelashes. As for me, I prefer more ‘natural’ looking ones such as the one below.

Photo 30-7-14 5 59 12 pm

I have been using this brand for several years and they only cost $4.90 for 6 pairs!!! I do re-use them and you can actually do so if you do not destroy the lash bone structure. Also, the hairs do not drop easily compared to other brands.

Before wearing them on, you will have to snip off the ends of the eyelashes.

The trick is to leave the shorter eyelash hair for the inner corner of your eye and the longest ones at the outer corner. If you leave the longest side for your inner eye, you would look plain weird.

Why? Just think about it.

Our own natural eyelashes grow this way as well if you’d noticed. 🙂

[Tutorial] How to style your hair with Panasonic EH-HS95-K Nanocare Straightener

Are you the sort who desires different hairstyles for the different outlook of the day like me? And is it too much hassle to head down to the hair salon every time you fancy a different hair style?

Or perhaps the money spent on salon services could be money well-spent else where?

Then you are in luck because in this blog post, I will be providing a video tutorial (which is way easier than just pictures alone) on how to style your hair using the Panasonic EH-HS95-K Nanocare Straightener!

In my previous blog post, I have touched upon how this Panasonic EH-HS95-K Nanocare Straightener is Panasonic’slatest hair beauty tool which does not dry out your hair while styling!

I had fun practising with the Panasonic EH-HS95-K Nanocare Straightener, going from this :

Photo 29-7-14 6 55 43 pm

To this :

loose curls

Check out my video tutorial below on how to style your hair using the Panasonic EH-HS95-K Nanocare Straightener!

Here are some beauty tips to bear in mind :

  1. Ensure that your hair is dry, please do not style if your hair is wet
  2. Comb your hair before styling
  3. Separate your hair into portions, especially if you hair is very thick
  4. Heat protective spray is a must before using any styling tool
  5. Start curling by grabbing the middle portion of your hair bundle, leaving sufficient space to twirl twice without burning yourself, especially near your ears area
  6. Ensure your hair bundle is taut so that they will not fall out of the ceramic plates when coiling
  7. Check to see if all hair is curled properly
  8. Use a hair setting spray/apply hair pump to set your curls

I hope you enjoy watching the video! 🙂

Beauty Event with Panasonic Singapore

In conjunction with the Singapore Blog Awards organised by OMY.sg for the ‘Best Beauty Blog’ category, which I have been qualified as one of the Top 10 Finalists, all finalists had to head down to understand the Panasonic Beauty products better as well as to invite 2 female guests along.

Top 10 finalists for ‘Best Beauty Blog’

Finalists and guests

I brought my sister and friend along too 🙂

We were introduced to a few products which we were taught how to them with hands-on experience where we had the chance to try out the products on our friends and vice versa!

The brand ‘Panasonic’ itself should not be an unfamiliar name to all and it has actually been founded since 1918! Panasonic Singapore is responsible for the sales and marketing of consumer electronics and home appliances in Singapore. With the array of beauty products they offer, wanting to consistently improve and develop their products better, Panasonic has come up with a new innovation for hair and beauty care using the nanoe™ technology.

One of the nanoe™ technology products which we were introduced was Panasonic EH-HS95-K Nanocare Straightener.

IMG_6789

IMG_6790

IMG_6795

You might have heard that using such hair tools may damage your hair as they dry them out but with this nanoe™ technology, it specifically targets this concern and problem.

How so?

This nanoe™ technology takes the moisture from your hair and uses it to create tiny, moisture-rich particles that are small enough to penetrate the shafts of your hair, helping to strengthen and protect it against damage from heat and brushing.

Using a picture to illustrate this nanoe™ technology would help you better understand how it works.

The nanoe™ technology takes naturally occurring ions present in the air and breaks them down into significantly smaller particles that are then combined and held together by water molecules. These new moisture-rich nanoe™ particles—with nearly 1,000 times more moisture than regular ions—are infused into the hair while styling.
In essence, the nanocare straightener helps protect and beautify your hair by taking the moisture that’s on the outside and putting it on the inside. In this case, your hair does not lose its moisture and does not dry out, resulting in smoother, shinier and stronger hair.
What’s more is that the nanocare straightener maintains a consistent temperature on the ceramic plates throughout the styling process, helping to boost curling and straightening performance by as much as 35%!
This is definitely a plus point compared to other straighteners which  have plates that vary in temperature while you are styling your hair.

Hong Ling, a professional beauty make-up artist and beauty stylist carried out a mini demonstration session to show us a few useful tricks in styling our hair for different occasions and events.

Effortlessly and within a short period of time, experienced Hong Ling managed to show us what Panasonic EH-HS95-K Nanocare Straightener can do by illustrating on Michele’s hair!

I must admit that it isn’t easy to curl using a straightener but there are many reasons as to why many women prefer using straightener to curl their hair instead of curling iron.

Firstly, don’t let the term ‘straighteners’ fool you. Straighteners or also known as flat iron, have different stylising functions compared to a curling iron. On top of its straightening and curling functions, it can even make crimps and waves as welll, so you can style your hair at the comfort of your own cosy house for different occasions! That is why many women prefer getting straighteners over curling iron because it’s way definitely more value for money!

Secondly, straighteners give a more defined and long-lasting curls. Why? Because unlike the curling iron which has rounded barrels, straighteners are more angled. So as the segment of hair passes through the straightener, they are more bent resulting in a more defined curl which many women would like to achieve because nobody likes lifeless limping curls and weighs down your hair, failing to give it shape and volume.

Although it does take some time to master the art of curling hair using straightener, once you get the hang of it through practice, it is really easy to do and curling your hair within 10 minutes should not be a problem! As the saying goes, “There are no ugly women, only lazy one”, so practice, practice and more practice! 😀

Here are some snippets of us trying out the products and having fun at the same time as well!

You can see that I was very serious in trying to master the art of curling…..

And then Hong Ling came round to help out and I took the opportunity to bombard her with burning queries…

Just look at my serious face…@@

And that’s me trying to pin my hair to the side for a’ side-sweep look’ which gives a sweeter and more demure feel. 😉

And what is a beauty blogger without a selfie of herself? 😀

Hong Ling also introduced the Nanocare Ionity Hair Dryer EH-NA45 which works similarly to the straightener in which the nanoe penetrates the hair cuticles and delivers water to maintain the moisture balance inside hair.

On top of that, this Nanocare Ionity Hair Dryer EH-NA45 also contains platinum ions which help to coat the hair surface and tighten the cuticle. Working hand in hand, the double ions work to boost the hair’s moisture content, keeping the hair healthy and beautiful!

You will never have to worry about damaging your hair by blow drying them anymore!

After styling Michele’s hair using the straightener, Hong Ling tied and pinned her hair up into a bun and blew it upwards using the hair dryer. This helps to give the hair more volume, which is especially a useful tip for those who desires more volume at the crown. A bee-hive bun can look very sexy yet elegant at the same time and comes in handy when you are having a bad hair day.

Beauty tip: If you love this hairstyle yet afraid to try because of your broad face shape, remember, contouring your face is a must then. Also, make sure you perfect your make up if you were to wear this hair style, because by bunning up your hair, the focus would be on your face instead.

After Hong Ling was done styling Michele’s hair, she touched up her makeup and used the Panasonic Heated Eyelash Curler EH-SE60 which helps to brighten up the eyes!

I will be touching more on the Panasonic Heated Eyelash Curler EH-SE60 and the Panasonic Facial Ionic Steamer EH-SA31 in the upcoming blog post. On top of that, I will also be doing a video on a step-by-step tutorial in using the Panasonic EH-HS95-K Nanocare Straightener to create different hairstyles and looks!

So stay tuned! ❤
