My 3rd Sculptra Treatment with Celevenus Wellness & Aesthetic Clinic

Hello everyone!

So rest assured that you’re in good and safe hands! 🙂

Results so far have been effective and promising which you can read about the gradual progress in my previous blog posts :

1st Sculptra treatment session

2nd Sculptra treatment session

For those who have no idea :

What is this treatment about?

To summarize, it is a type of filler, injected with  l-poly-lactic acid to help stimulate and encourage facial growth via natural collagen production. By ‘natural’, it means that the collagen formed comes from your own tissue. Besides being able to achieve facial volume, Sculptra is also able to target other common areas due to loss of facial volume and ageing problems such as wrinkles, folds and skin laxity.

From my 2nd treatment, you could tell that results were already taking effect.

Here is a comparison of the results thus far :

1st to 3rd sculptra 2

And my most recent picture taken only few days ago (2 weeks after 3rd Sculptra treatment) while I was in Phuket with my boyfriend :

photo 1 (43)

Totally no filters at all!

I couldn’t believe my eyes when I saw how different I am right now, even my boyfriend noticed the difference and complimented that I look better with fuller cheeks! 😀

What’s more is that my nasolabial folds, otherwise known as laugh lines (caused by ageing, sunkened cheeks, lack of volume and braces), are smoothened out too as well!

Who says you can’t defy ageing?

Now you can with Sculptra, which helps you achieve a more refined and youthful looking appearance over time that is clinically proven to be able to last up to 2 years or at least 25 months!

My 2nd Sculptra treatment session with Celevenus Wellness & Aesthetic Clinic!

Sponsored Advertorial

It has been 2 months since my last Sculptra treatment with Celevenus Wellness and Aesthetic Clinic.

If you would recall, Sculptra helps to achieve global facial volume replacement through natural collagen stimulation with l-poly-lactic acid. Known as ‘the liquid facelift’, this treatment would substantially increase the collagen of your skin to correct the folds, wrinkles and skin laxity as a consequence of aging. The result looks and feels more natural than what fillers can do, and can potentially last twice as long.

Here is a progress stage comparison for easy reference :

sculptra compare

From the above picture, you can see the obvious changes after the 1st treatment session where I’ve developed a ‘fuller’ cheeks and a more volumised face shape.

As mentioned in my previous post, 1 treatment session is usually not enough to achieve the ideal face shape. Also, as the stimulation of your natural collagen requires some time and constant stimulation, it is common for the swelling to reduce after just 1 session as advised by Dr Dylan Chau who is a Sculptra trainer for doctors and takes his anti-aging treatments to a whole new realm.

Comparing my side profile before any treatment and my side profile 2 months later, you can actually see some difference. My cheek is not as relatively indent anymore, but somehow sunken.

I went back for my 2nd session at Celevenus and here is the immediate effect aftermath.

This was taken before the 2nd treatment started.

A comparison between a ‘before’ and ‘after’ Sculptra treatment :

You can actually see that the right side is more plump up after the treatment.

It is more obvious if you view it from the side profile.

To provide a better comparison, here is a side by side pictures of my right side profiles, before and after the treatment :

And now for the left side profile :

And this is how my front view look :

Pardon the yellow light. It was taken right after my treatment and after touching up some light make-up.

Celevenus has a dressing room that provides personal space as they understand how self-conscious ladies would be after their treatments, thus catering to customers’ needs. Very thoughtful, I must say. 🙂

Oh yes, another benefit that I derived from the Sculptra treatment is that it helps in reducing the appearance of my nasolabial folds!!!

I cannot stand looking at the mirror with these annoying folds staring hard back at me, wondering how to eradicate them and now I can with the help of Sculptra! On top of that, I’ve tried various anti-ageing products and also to apply them in the usual outwards and upwards lifting motion to defy the gravity but to no avail. I am quite sure these folds are caused by both ageing and loss of facial volume, which gradually became more and more prominent.

I am extremely glad that Sculptra has help to erase, if not significantly reduce them.

The swelling will subside gradually but through natural collagen stimulation with l-poly-lactic acid, Sculptra treatment would substantially increase the collagen of your skin to correct the folds, wrinkles and skin laxity as a consequence of aging. Following an average of three treatment sessions over a few months, or Dr Dylan Chau recommends, can produce a more natural, younger looking appearance that can last more than 2 years or 25 months.

Tell me how can I not be anything more than elated when I’m about to experience a ‘time travel back into the past’ with my skin’s age and appearance?  😉

Physical features/areas I would like to improve on

Before you judge, I am not advocating that plastic surgery is right or wrong. There is no right or wrong per se and each to his/her own choice and decision.

If you’d asked me, I am still quite easy going on getting aesthetics treatment done (I had mine done on my face – Read here!) but am still trying to digest the reality of a full-blown plastic surgery.

I strongly believe that everyone has their own choice but the issue is what is meant by ‘having to cross the line’? And who sets this imaginary line?

An obsession with trying to improve one’s physical appearance is more than often due to a lack of confidence, lack of self-esteem, over-conscious of self-appearance and what some of us call it a psychological problem.

The growth of plastic surgery reaching out to the current society is overwhelming (thanks to main contributing factors such as KPOP craze) and it’s actually quite scary how Korea is reacting (overreacting) to the issue of plastic surgery.

One of the recent news that captured the over-obsession with plastic surgery in Korea was documented here where rewards from parents have shifted from sweets, holiday treats, cash to now – plastic surgery.

And before you criticise girls for being vain or plain crazy, guys are also now hit by the plastic surgery craze. Maybe this is more prominent in Korea as compared to our local counterparts, but I won’t be surprise if Singapore is slowly taken over by storm as well.

Whether you are getting fillers done that are non-invasive or if you’re brave enough to take the risks and beautify yourself with a full-blown make over, both would still fall under the overarching umbrella of ‘plastic surgery’.

So okay, debate on plastic surgery issues aside.

What are my physical features that I dislike or would like to improve on?

Psst, beauty lies in the eyes of the beholder and is extremely subjective, so perhaps girls withe double eyelids are deemed to be prettier but there could be some who think that those with single/monolids are gorgeous.

Whatever it is, this is gonna be based on my own personal preference (duh!) so think twice before you disagree 🙂

1. Single eyelids

That’s a very recent pic of me taken after bf and I finished out Standard Chartered Marathon 2013!
Totally bare face with NO make up at all!
Look at how beady my eyes are 😦
Also, pls pardon the weary look. I had only 3 hours of sleep before running 10km….

I have single eyelids due to genetics and would love to get my double eyelids surgery done, perhaps some time next year. I am more inclined towards opting for a non-incisional method – suture method but as we know, you can’t have the best of both worlds, this method has its cons too as compared to the incisional method – cutting.

Suture method

Pros : Claimed to be reversible, lesser downtime, faster recovery time and less swelling. Cheaper than cutting method.

Cons : Have read news that this method is not 100% permanent and that eyelids flip back to single eyelids within 2 to 5 years? Not as lasting as the cutting method.

Cutting method

Pros : More lasting than suture method, in fact, it’s permanent.

Cons : More expensive, longer downtime, much more swelling.

Whichever method it is, double eyelid surgery compared to other physical areas are seen to be extremely common now. There is lesser ‘shame’ in admitting that one has undergone the knife to achieve double eyelids.

Double eyelid stickers, fibre stickers or glue. You name it, I’ve tried it. Although not consistent I must admit and I don’t have the patience to wait for results to be achieved.

I’ve a few friends and have heard many girls who achieved double eyelids by religiously sticking the double eyelids tapes.

One thing about these tapes is that they are extremely obvious, no matter how you try to ‘conceal’ them. Worse thing is, they hardly stick well and it gets embarrassing when people notices.

Fibre sticks and glues are another worse lot to consider. They create a very fake crease on your eyelids and your eyelids get ‘stuck’ together which is very obvious too. Glue creates a white sticky residue as well.

So all these methods are no-no.

My single eyelids make me look more sleepy, less alert and somehow less feminine.

Again, these are based on my own preference and mentality.

2. Nose

As with many other fellow Asians, a slim nose with high-bridged is very rare.

I have a stubby nose and the bridge is not high enough. But I’m thankful it’s alot better than those with extremely flat noses with almost non-existent bridges =x

grey Look younger with Sculptra treatment!

3. Sunken cheeks

This is the area where I have done something to improve by undergoing a Sculptra treatment with Celevenus Wellness and Aesthetic Clinic where I was put into safe hands of Dr Dylan Chau 🙂

I have gone for my 2nd treatment this afternoon and am looking forward to a ‘fuller’ face with a reduction in my laugh lines. Can’t wait! 🙂

Will be blogging about my 2nd session soon so do keep a lookout! 😀

4. Birthmarks

Little known to many, I have 3 birthmarks on my body. 1 which is very light on my right outer thigh, 1 on my left elbow and 1 huge one on my left inner thigh.

The last one obviously, bothers me the most.

I am extremely self-conscious whenever I wear a short dress, mini skirt or shorts.

Birthmarks, whether they are a symbol of good luck or not, are still unsightly. I mean who would yearn for one?!

Am also trying to target this problem but I know that laser is gonna be painful and would require many sessions to remove, though not completely. And might even left scars.

I’d recently bought a highly-raved cream, claimed to be effective for pigmentation problems, including birthmarks known as Meladerm®. It’s expensive, especially with the shipping but I’m just hoping it can help lighten my birthmark significantly. Keeping my fingers crossed.

5. Skin tone

Apart from having uneven skin tone on my face, a fairer complexion on my overall body and face would be ideal.

Have been taking hakubi whitening drink and pills and Fancl drink and pills as well, but seems like it’s true that there’s a limit to how fair one can be.

Have contemplated whitening jabs as well and understand the risks associated, especially with clinics that are not credible.

Still under pending though 🙂

And not forgetting my horrendous dark circles…sigh.

Well, what about you?

Which physical features/areas do you dislike or wish to improve on?

Look younger with Sculptra treatment!

Sponsored Advertorial

If you have been following me on my facebook page or have been reading my blog, or through my pictures, you would know that my face shape is not very ideal. My cheeks are quite sunken in due to the weight lost from puberty and my recent weight loss as well.

This was how I looked like pre-puberty. I know, it doesn’t look like me at all and looks as if I’ve undergone the knife, but no I didn’t. I just lost weight and learnt the beauty of make-up that’s all. HAHA!

I have lost about 3kg recently which is not really a big deal, but it shows on my face.

As you may have already known, not everyone loses weight the same way as others. For myself, I lose my fats on my cheeks relatively quicker than the rest of my body parts, as well as my tummy. But it is a common problem that most ladies find it difficult to target spot areas on arms and thighs.

The truth is, you can’t.

After losing weight, you may have already lost fats and muscle mass, which in result causes flabs.

That is why you see flabs on your arms, thighs and stomach.

Hence, both cardio (lose fats) and toning (muscles strengthening) are equally important and should work simultaneously.

After wearing braces for about 6 months, my protruding jaw has been pushed back, though I would not say it is 100% successful. However, this could also be due to my skeletal structure and shape.

As I have sunken cheeks, naturally the mouth and jaw area would seem to protrude.

You can that my front view profile :

And it looks worse when I don’t smile :

My side profile is worse, especially with the protruding jaw. The sunkenness is more obvious when viewed from the side.

However, as a resident blogger at My Fat Pocket, I was very fortunate to be given the opportunity to try out Sculptra treatment with Dr Dylan Chau, who is a Sculptra trainer for other doctors, from Celevenus Wellness & Aesthetics Clinic.

Extracted from Celevenus Wellness & Aesthetics Clinic, these are the common problems that Sculptra can help treat.

Sculptra Treatment Areas

Sculptra is suitable for:

– Deep folds between the nose and the mouth (nasolabial folds) also called smile lines

– The lines framing your mouth (marionette lines)

– Sunken & droopy cheeks

– Sunken temples

– Eye bags & dark eye circles caused by sunken tear troughs

– Skin laxity

As for my case, due to loss of facial volume, my cheeks are not only sunken, I have nasolabial folds too which I suspect is a combination of not only loss of facial volume but also dehydration and ageing. Yes, sadly I have already reached the age where ageing has commenced. 😦

Having sunken cheeks is really unsightly because not only it makes you look haggard and older than you really are, you look tired as well. Also, my jaws a quite angular which Dr Dylan did comment that angular jaws result in a more masculine appearance. Femininity should include a more rounded apple cheeks. Just think about Fann Wong and her rosy high apple cheeks.

But please note that Sculptra may not achieve high cheeks like hers because it is dependent on many other factors such as your skeletal structure, your own tissue to produce collagen etc.

Similar to other filler treatments, injections and needles are involved and it is best to get someone to accompany you for reasons below.

  1. There will be some pain, blood, swelling involved and each individual’s body may response differently.
  2. You may need comfort and assurance from someone you can trust…by squeezing their hand. I think I’d almost broke my bf’s bones…LOL!
  3. Although there will be numbing cream applied prior to treatment, the filler itself contains some dosage of local anesthetic, so you will feel drowsy. That was also the reason why I looked so ‘sian’ in the pictures, half way throughout, I was very drowsy.  But the condition will subside shortly after the treatment and does not affect daily activities.

Firstly, if you’d applied makeup, they will help remove it and then apply numbing cream first. After letting it set for 30 to 60 mins, you will then be called in for the treatment.

IMG_6652

During the waiting time for the numbing cream to take effect, you can actually wait at the small lounge or just wait outside at the reception. Don’t worry, there will be many others who will have creams on their faces as well, so in that context, you will still look ‘normal’.

Then the treatment would take place.

Was waiting for Dr Dylan’s arrival and chatting with MFP’s editor Bianca and my bf 🙂 And trying to stay calm…

IMG_6646

Prior to the day of the treatment, I have consulted and cleared my doubts before agreeing to be treated. So do clarify every single doubt you have, especially since it involves needles and it’s your face we are talking!

And off we proceeded with the treatment!

During treatment :

Close-up :

There will be loads of injections poking here and there so do be warned. It is still bearable but still good to have someone’s warm hands to hold…and squeeze. They would also provide stress balls should you not have a hand to squeeze. But I prefer squeezing my bf’s hand… 😛

IMG_6626

After one side of my face was done, the drowsy effect started to kick in.

20131113-011249-pm.jpg

In this picture, I was already done with my left side. Can you see the difference between the two sides? One sunken and the other more plumped up? Besides my plumped up cheeks, my laugh line and nasolabial line on the left are less obvious and prominent.

After treatment :

IMG_6639

IMG_6637 IMG_6638

As the liquid substance is injected into your skin, you will need to constantly massage them as previously mentioned to prevent lumps from occurring.

There will be a massage session by their staff. Also you will be required to massage daily 5 times for 5 mins for the next 5 days.

The staff at Celevenus will advise on the correct method and motion of the massage.

Post-massage :

This is how I looked for the next few days 🙂

IMG_6620

IMG_6617

IMG_6619

Yes, there will be little bumps because of the injection holes but I guess can be covered by makeup, so not to worry.

I wasn’t really getting used to the ‘new look’ as first because afterall, I’ve lost most of my cheeks since puberty…

It was weird seeing these ‘old friends’ of mine and best thing is, I can see my cheeks when I look down! LOL!

So, which do you think looks better?

Before:

After :

And of course, there will be bruises. My bruises were considered relatively better than other patients but they lasted for quite long. This also varies individually, especially if you are the type who bruises easily… I was advised to avoid taking omega-3 and aspirin as the latter thins the blood. In addition, using a heat pad or something warm to press against the bruises would help. I made a mistake by using ice on the bruise but ice should be used to cool and calm down angry swells and not bruises. You may also google on how to reduce the bruises. 🙂

But your temporary best bet would be makeup. Concealer and foundations would come in extremely handy to cover them up should there be a need to. If possible, perhaps taking a few days off from work would be good.

After 3 weeks post-treatment, this is my latest look :

IMG_6594

IMG_6593

Do not be alarm should you see a decrease in facial volume or if your face reverted back to its original form because one session is definitely not enough.

The facial volume might have been lost but my nasolabial folds around my mouth have reduced significantly. I am impressed with such effect despite only undergoing 1 session!

Depending on the desired result and severity of the conditions of each individual, it is recommendable to complete 2 to 4 sessions in order to achieve the optimum result that can last for more than 25 months!

As with other fillers, the substance is dissolvable and will be broken down via your own body’s metabolism. This is normal so don’t worry.

I will be going for my second session in December and hopefully I will look better and younger by Christmas (taking into account the recovery for bruises).

Yay to younger looking skin! 🙂
